ABERYSTWYTH enjoyed the perfect start to life in the new Adran Premier league with a 3-1 win against visitors Barry Town on Sunday.

The Park Avenue faithful did not have to wait long for a goal as new signing Elin Jones opened their account following a first-minute corner and Amy Jenkins doubled their advantage from the penalty spot on the half hour.

Gavin Allen’s side had to weather a storm after the break as Barry pressed forward to try and claw something back from the game.

The home rearguard was put under intense pressure with Taite Rrivett reducing the arrears after a well-worked move.

Allen made a series of substitutions to inject some energy into the team and it paid dividend, Libby Isaac making sure of the points with a 30-yard screamer.

A fantastic performance from the Seasiders resulting in a much needed three points to start off the season.

The Black and Greens have a trip to Cardiff City on Sunday, host Cardiff Met University the following Sunday, before finishing the month with a game at Pontypridd on 26 September.
