MELINDEN duly completed their double over Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs with a 4-1 away win, having won their home match 5-1 a few weeks ago.
Two late goals, however, meant that the scoreline flattered them somewhat.
With Dafydd Reynolds having to miss this match due to an ankle injury, the Amateurs had Cai Hughes partnering Neil Reynolds in the heart of defence.
The visitors, however, went ahead after just three minutes when a quick clearance saw Meliden counter attack, for Chris Owen to open the scoring.
There were chances at both ends in an entertaining opening half, and the visitors went into the break 2-0 up after Mike Giffiths had scored on 31 minutes.
The hosts had gone close when David Copsey - back in his home side after a spell with Penrhyndeudraeth - tested keeper Bradley Wright, and Hayden Kivell was on the line to clear a Blaenau goal bound effort, with his keeper beaten.
The second half wasn’t as open as the first, but the home side were back in the match on 55 minutes when Iwan Jones stepped up to convert a penalty kick, after Copsey was fouled.
It was not until the last 10 minutes that the visitors completed the scoring, through Danny Davies and Chris Marsden, with the last kick of the match.
