BONT maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth District League division one as they hit back from two goals down to win 4-2 away at Penparcau.

The home team, who are boosted by the return of Micky Gornall and his brother Mark, having also signed Chris Jones and Trevor Gore in midweek, were also looking to keep a perfect record.

Penparcau’s early pressure was soon rewarded as Andrew Gittins picked up a loose ball to slot past Trevor Jenkins, and on 20 minutes it was 2-0 as Jenkins brought down Gittins for Dylan Bailey to slot home the penalty.

The hosts were in control and they kept pressing, but a shuffle of players and a substitution had Bont back in the game as Dave Jones played in Dion Davies, to halve the deficit with a brilliantly taken goal.

Bont finally started to get a foothold in the game and their hard work paid off as Davies grabbed his second goal minutes before half-time from six yards out to make it 2-2 at the break.

It set up a thrilling second half, with both sides making strong challenges, but it was Bont who were rewarded as centre back Sion Jones was found unmarked from a Lee Jones free kick to head home.

Bont grew in confidence and restricted Penparcau to a few long range efforts, and keeper Jenkins was mainly untroubled through the second half.

The visitors sealed a superb comeback five minutes from time when Chris Wilkins ran 40 yards with the ball to power home from a tight angle inside the box, and condemn Penparcau to their first defeat of the season.

In midweek, Bont kept up their winning ways with a 3-1 win over defending champions Bow Street Reserves.

Lee Crumpler netted for Bow Street, who then crashed to a 4-0 defeat against Tregaron Turfs on Saturday.
