BALA Town manager Colin Caton is expecting a tough test when his side travel to face Carmarthen Town in the third round of the Welsh Cup at Richmond Park this weekend.

After successive league defeats against Airbus UK Broughton and Gap Connah’s Quay, the Lakesiders were left frustrated by the postponement of their match at Bangor City last Friday.

Both sides will be hoping that the match can go ahead this weekend, after Carmarthen also saw their game at Aberystwyth called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The two sides had a goalless draw back in September and Caton says his high-flying side can expect a difficult challenge against the seventh-placed Old Gold.

"It is another away tie for us, and the Welsh Cup draw always seems to be tough to us," said Caton.

“I suppose it could have been easier, but it could have been a lot worse, and we’ll go there looking for the win, and hopefully we can go on a good run."

Mark Connolly has been suffering with the effects of a bug earlier this week, and the Lakesiders will be without Anthony Stephens, who serves a one match ban.

Meanwhile the Welsh Premier League has confirmed that Bala’s home fixture against Carmarthen that was due to take place in November has been rescheduled for Saturday, 9 January.
