After collecting all three points on the weekend at Latham Park, where the Lakesiders defeated Newtown 2-0, focus would turn to the re-scheduled game against Flint Town, as the previously scheduled game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Lakesiders will travel to Flint later tonight (20 October) in a bid to keep up with the league leaders, where a win will take the Town up to third in the table, with a game in hand over Connah’s Quay who sit in second.

Newly promoted side Flint Town have struggled to gain any momentum so far this season, having lost their last five in the league, although ‘The Silkmen’ did pick up two wins in their first three games, with wins over Newtown and Cefn Druids, which see them sitting on six points after eight games played.

Both Flint and Cefn Druids have conceded the same amount of goals, which is 21, 10 of Flint’s conceded goals came from a 10-goal thrashing by the hands of The New Saints, who demolished the promoted side, with Greg Draper grabbing five of them!

Besides the 10 goal thrashing of TNS, other defeats have come by the way of a one or two-goal deficit, which could be seen as a positive for The Silkmen.

The last meeting between the two clubs was just 10 months ago, as the clubs met in Round 3 of the JD Welsh Cup.

Flint would end up knocking out the Lakesiders in a 2-0 win to progress into Round 4 of the Cup.

At an extremely windy Cae Y Castell, it was a struggle for both sides, however it would be Flint who took the lead after half an hour following a Callum Bratley goal.

It got even worse for Bala as Lassana Mendes was sent off for a late challenge just before the half-time whistle.

The Lakesiders would keep on pressing during the second half, but no goal came, however Flint ensured the victory with three minutes to go, as Andrew Brown headed past Tibbets in goal to compel a disappointing afternoon for The Town who crashed out of the cup.

Since being promoted into the Cymru Premier, Flint strengthened their ranks with quite a few signings.

Manager Niall McGuinness signed two Prestatyn Town players in Alex Jones and Kai Edwards who make the step into the Cymru Premier due to the Cymru North season looking far from starting, and other signings include Joe Palmer and Sam Hart, who also made the jump from the Cymru North.

Former Bala Town forward, Les Davies also signed for The Silkmen having joined Bangor 1876 last year.

The 35 year old has featured a couple times for Flint since signing, but is yet to score a goal.

Nathan Craig, the former captain of Caernarfon Town also moved to Cae-Y-Castell, and even scored on his debut for the club after scoring a free kick against Newtown in their first three points of the season.

The Lakesiders will look to pick up all three points in their trip to Cae-Y-Castell, and get into the top three having conceded two and scored 11 in the last three games.

The table looks rather favourable for the Lakesiders as The Town are now six points off top spot, with one game in hand over TNS, with the replay of the abandoned game earlier in the season, following a floodlight failure.

Goalkeeper Alex Ramsay will be back available for this match after new signing John Rushton kept a clean sheet on his debut at Newtown, along with another new signing in Ryan Pryce, who grabbed an assist in his first match for the club.

Flint will look to climb up the table with a win which would see them climb to ninth position, and de-rail any chance of The Lakesiders competing for the league title.
