BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United were excellent value for a 2-0 win over Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one visitors Mynydd Llandygai, which was doubly satisfying as it also featured their first clean-sheet of the season.

Having shared the points with their rivals in a 1-1 draw in the original league encounter away in early September, Paul Lewis’s team were focused on doing even better in the Wern Mynach home return and succeeded.

Barmouth had to maintain their commitment and effort against doughty opponents and there was just the one goal, from Shane Jones on 24 minutes, to separate the rivals at half-time and beyond.

The outcome remained tantalisingly in doubt until just three minutes from the end, when Bobby Griffiths, a recent returnee after an absence of four years, provided the conclusive second goal.

Llanberis pulled off a slim 2-1 win over Llanrwst United at their own Gwydyr Park ground, where all the scoring occurred in the first half.

David Jones steered Llanberis in front on 15 minutes and that lead was doubled by Gethin Wakeham on 38, before Llanrwst’s long-serving defender Leighton Griffiths netted a reply on 43.

Prestatyn Sports enjoyed a 6-1 runaway win over Llandyrnog United, as the goals were spread between Rob Dunn on 20 minutes, Dean Hyland on 31 and 48, Adie Bell on 46, James Harper on 76 and Steve Ash on 77. Joel Rowlands replied on 88.

Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two

WITH Kinmel Bay being held to a 2-2 draw away at Aberffraw, Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs took their chance to extend their lead at the top of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division two with a 2-1 win at Melinden.

The Amateurs are now six points clear in the title race, and have three games in hand on their nearest rivals.

They were made to work hard for this win, however, and the Clwyd side made the best possible start as Scott Stevens gave them the lead in the very first minute.

Both sides had chances in the first half, but in the closing minutes the home keeper handled the ball outside the penalty area as Bryn Humphreys was bearing on goal, and was shown a red card.

To add to the home side’s frustration, Keiron Ellis picked his spot to make it 1-1 with the resulting free kick.

Ellis then scored again just minutes into the second period, when he took advantage of a poor defensive clearance and fired home.

The Amateurs defended their lead well and they also had chances to make sure of the points, but they returned home pleased with the result and crucially three points.

Kinmel Bay meanwhile lost ground as they had to hit back from two goals down at Aberffraw to take a point.

First half goals from Nathan Moore and Gareth Hughes put the home side in charge, but Bay hit back to share the spoils with goals from Gygorgy Szabo and Ryan Hassett, with a penalty.

Holyhead Town ended the lengthy winning run of Penmaenmawr Phoenix, but they had to settle for a point after a goalless home draw.

Elsewhere in division two, Rob Jones, Gavin Sharp and Mark Jones all found the back of the net for Llannerchymedd in their 3-0 win at struggling Mochdre Sports.

Iwan Owen meanwhile fired in a hat-trick for Y Felinheli as they thrashed Amlwch Town 7-1 on home soil.

Griff John, Carwyn Dafydd, Rhys Parry and Aled Emyr also found the net, with Rhys Roberts replying.

Goals from Llannefydd’s Tomos Jones, Jared Jones and Jack Gronow earned them a 3-1 in over Pentraeth, with Jason Owen replying.

Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserves Division

SION Parry struck again for Porthmadog Reserves as they ran up another big score in securing a 10-1 win over Kimnel Bay Reserves.

Parry, who had scored four goals in a cup tie the previous Friday, followed that up today with another five goals, to take his league and cup goals total to 28 goals.

Rhys Hughes was also on target with two goals, while Jack Davies, Sol Kempster and Ben Williams all weighed in with one each.

The win stretches their run of straight league wins to 13 and put them nine points ahead of second placed Denbigh Town Reserves, who they will meet at the Traeth this Friday, 7 December.

Llanberis Reserves beat Prestatyn Town Reserves 2-1, courtesy of a Matthew Edwards penalty and a late Geoff Jones winner, after Sam Herd had opened the scoring early for the visitors.

Colwyn Bay Reserves won 3-1 at Llanrug United Reserves as early and late goals from Michael Taylor, and a Greg Hall effort sealed the points. Mike Owen netted a reply for the home team.

Penmaenmawr Reserves lost 4-0 at home to Pwllheli Reserves, who took the spoils with goals from Lee Sampson, Kai Hughes, Jason Banks and Marcus Banks.

Cookson Cup

PENRHYNDEUDRAETH, who went close to capturing the Cookson Cup in 2017 as losing finalists to Glantraeth, swept into the semi-finals this time in style, as 5-0 slayers of Llandudno Junction.

Meilir Williams bagged four goals, two in each half, to add to his tally in the Welsh Alliance campaign, including 13 league goals as division one top marksman.

Having been held to a 1-1 draw by the division one bottom outfit in the league in October, Williams opened his account on 18 minutes and doubled the lead on 30.

The second half saw an own-goal just past the hour and two more from Williams near the end, on 87 and 89.

Two other clubs from the county of Gwynedd will join Penrhyn in the Cup’s last-four, notably Llanrug United, who emerged as the penalty shoot-out winners against Bodedern Athletic.

The score after spot-kicks was 4-3 for Llanrug, after the teams had been balanced at 3-3 with 90 minutes played, and 4-4 after extra-time.

Llanrug’s goals in open play came from Carl Griffiths on seven minutes, Aaron Hughes on nine, Dylan Owen on 52 and Luke Phillips on 112, whereas Bodedern’s scorers were Shaun Jenkins on 18, Adie Clarke on 21, Steven Whittaker on 26 and an own-goal on 107.

Nantlle Vale won 2-1 at Greenfield, thanks to Aaron Davies netting on 35 minutes and an own-goal on 82, with the Deesiders having struck via Danny Calvert on 10.

Llangefni Town beat hosts Llandudno Albion in a penalty shoot-out that ended at 6-5, after the teams had been level at 3-3 after extra-time.

Albion went ahead on 8 minutes through Dave Maddock, but Liam Morris got on the end of a superb delivery from Cai Powell-Roberts for the leveller on 12 minutes.

After the break a brilliant free-kick from Iwan Jones put Cefni in front, but Chris Saxon was dismissed for a second bookable offence, before Kevin Lloyd unleashed a stunning drive from the half way line into the net.

Maddock, however, got the hosts back into the tie and Peter Jones hit a late leveller, and with neither side able to score in extra time it was decided on spot-kicks - and Town emerged 6-5 victors.
