BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United swept into the FAW Trophy’s fourth round as convincing 4-0 winners over hosts Llandudno Junction.

These Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one bottom half rivals had slogged out a goal-less draw in a league clash at Junction’s Crossing ground in mid-August - but that venue was ruled as unfit, because of waterlogging for the FAW Trophy re-match.

A switch was made to Llandudno’s Maesdu Park, and the 3G artificial facility there, where Barmouth edged the first half with a goal by Osian Owen, his first for the club.

After the change-around Bobby Griffiths doubled the visitors’ lead, before Rob Murfet, on his return to action after a lengthy absence due to family reasons, netted a brace to seal their win.

Nantlle Vale were able to play their FAW Trophy tie and they won by a slender 1-0 score against Welsh National (Wrexham Area) division one side Coedpoeth, who were beaten by Ashley Owen’s goal on 18 minutes.

Denbigh Town were 2-1 winners against Queen’s Park, from the Welsh (Wrexham Area) Premier Division, with Jake Walker bagging a brace of goals after 12 and 14 minutes, before James Gregory scored a late reply.

Several FAW Trophy ties fell victim to waterlogged grounds, including Penrhyndeudraeth at home to Welsh Alliance division one title hopefuls Holyhead Hotspur, and Llanuwchllyn’s scheduled tie against Llanrug Utd.

• All four fixtures listed in the Welsh Alliance division one were postponed, because of unfit pitches, as was the division two visit by Pwllheli to take on Mochdre Sports.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix are up to second spot in division two after beating Amlwch 5-3 in an exciting encounter.

Dan Williams and Alfie Caldecott both scored twice for the home side, with Ethan Jones also on target, whilst Ryan McKean, Ryan Rowlands and Luke McGivern hit back for battling Amlwch.

In an other game to beat the weather, a late penalty from Marc Evans earned Gwalchmai a 3-2 win at Pentraeth.

Gwyndaf Hughes and Rees Roberts netted for the hosts, who had equalised late on, only to lose out right at the end. Gareth Allman and Darren Roberts were the other goal scorers for Gwalchmai.

Steff Toplis grabbed the only goal as Pwllheli edged past Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1-0 in the Reserves Division

• There were a few games to go ahead in the Welsh League (Wrexham Area) as Cefn Albion moved up to third place in the Premier Division following a 3-0 home victory against Rhydymwyn.

Alex Williams, with a brace, and Callum Mannion were on target for the hosts.

A hat-trick from Owen Cordiner earned Corwen a 3-1 success at Queen’s Park in the Reserves Division, whilst Cai Aykroyd notched the only goal for Bala Town Reserves in their 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Reserves and Colts Division.
