BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United’s run of four straight home wins ended with a 1-0 defeat to Llanberis, who completed a Welsh Alliance division one double over Carl Ryan’s men.
The visitors made the breakthrough on 28 minutes, when Llanberis’ Jason Jones ran into the home penalty box to steer a 15-yard strike into the net.
Barmouth keeper Tyler French, who really impressed along with centre-back Mike Irvine, kept his side in the game midway through the second half, when he dived to his right to keep out Gethin Wakeham’s penalty.
After a first half miss by Barmouth’s Dave Harding, the hosts went close again towards the end though Shane Jones twice and Ieuan Brooks, but Llanberis held firm to take the spoils.
Penrhyndeudraeth were beaten 3-0 by visitors Mynydd Llandygai, who blitzed three goals in 10 minutes early on to clinch a mud-spattered win in the first meeting between the clubs.
Mynydd, who had arrived at Maes-y-Parc just one point better off than Julian Jeffery’s side in the mid-table, took the lead through Craig Whelan on 10 minutes, followed immediately by Liam Willingham on 11, and then Andy Barker with a third goal on 20.
Elsewhere, Llandyrnog United settled for a 1-0 win against Trearddur Bay United, with Mark Roberts scoring four minutes into the second half.
In division two, Aberffraw beat Mochre Sports 5-2 at home, courtesy of goals from Gareth Hughes on 16 minutes, Gary Bolton on 53 and Nathan Moore on 60 and 71, including a penalty and Adam Hallibone on 85. Sports replied through Kai Davies on 70 minutes and on Nail Owen on 81.
Elsewhere Matthew Griffiths scored a hat-trick as Melinden won 3-1 at Penmaenmawr Phoenix, with Dan Williams replying, whilst Glan Conwy extended their lead at the top of the table with a 6-0 win over Gaerwen.
In the Reserves Division, Holyhead Hotspur beat Llangefni Town 3-0, with their goals from Tom Scott, Matthew Jones and Daniel Dumbarton.
• Greenfield stormed into the FAW Trophy semi-finals with a 5-2 victory at Llanrug United, with Danny Calvert scoring a hat-trick including two penalties, with goals by Sam Jones and Connor Hughes. Marvin Pritch and Alan Mark Owen netted replies.
They face 2008 Trophy winners Rhos Aelwyd in the semi-finals after they edged out strongly-fancied Buckley Town 1-0 though an Ian Hughes goal.
