BARMOUTH and Dyffryn United raised their recent haul to 10 points from five Welsh Alliance matches as they beat Nantlle Vale 4-0 with one of their best displays for some time.

Manager Llyr Hughes, appearing in goal again for the injured Adam Walters, and his players are benefiting from the addition of experienced Iolo Owen, the ex-Wales schools’ chief and Porthmadog manager, as their coach.

Paul Lewis, a recent return signing from Porthmadog, was Barmouth’s hat-trick hero against Vale, scoring after 15, 20 and 88 minutes, with Carwyn Jones also finding the net on 68.

Barmouth’s other significant performers included Chris Wilkins, who was credited with being involved in all four goals, and making a major contribution with corners and crosses.

Penrhyndeudraeth, who have had a mid-season managerial change, with Andrew Jones taking over from Mike Foster, experienced a thrilling roller coaster 4-3 win at Llanrug United.

Penrhyn went two goals up midway through the first half, with Alun Hughes netting on 25 minutes and Meilir Williams on 28, only for Llanrug’s Luke Phillips to reply after 45.

Phillips then levelled on 70 minutes, followed by Dylan Owen despatching a 25 yard strike on 76 minutes, but that inspired Penrhyn’s late rally.

Jack Jones used his head twice to convert right corners from Dylan Sweeney on 80 minutes and again on 87 to clinch his club’s first ever triumph at the Eithin Duon venue.

Pwllheli will be relieved not to have to face Llanberis again this season, after losing to them for the fourth time.

They went down 2-1 at their opponents’ Ffordd Padarn ground, after home goals from Guto Llewelyn on 75 minutes and Aled Hughes on 82.

Pwllheli had held their own in a goal-less first half and Rhodri Scott took the lead just past the hour, but Llanberis finished stronger to score their two goals in seven late minutes.

Leaders Glantraeth stretched out a six points’ lead over reigning champions Trearddur Bay United as reward for their sparkling 6-1 triumph against their main title rivals.

Trearddur scored after just eight minutes through Dale Murphy, but Glantraeth hit back with a three-goal blitz from Darren Gowans on 10 minutes, Corrig McGonigle 60 seconds later and goalkeeper Ben Heald with a free-kick from his own half after 22.

After the change around, Sion Hogan extended their lead on 54 minutes, Gowans netted again on the hour and Kieron Jeffries scored on 84 minutes.

Greenfield benefited from a hat-trick by Shaun Beck in of a 5-0 romp against strugglers Glan Conwy, with goals timed at 28, 44 and 55 minutes, and Gareth Henley joining in on 46.

Llandudno Junction banked away points with a 3-2 win at St Asaph, where Sean Seager netted on 14 minutes, Lee Ellis on 19 and Brian Roberts on 42. St Asaph replied in the minutes leading up to half time, through Josh Hayworth and Sam Roberts.

Llandyrnog and Llangefni Town drew 1-1, after goals from the visitors’ Shaun Pritchard after 58 minutes and the hosts’ Mike Roberts on 76.
