ABERYSTWYTH Town manager Matthew Bishop was delighted with the way his side bounced back from a record defeat to The New Saints with a thrilling 2-1 win at Cefn Druids last Friday night.

A late winner from Geoff Kellaway, after a stunning strike by Marc Williams lifted the Seasiders up to sixth place in the early JD Cymru Premier table, and they will be keen to build on the win at home to Airbus UK Broughton this Saturday.

“I think the players showed great character,” said Bishop. “It’s never easy when you get beaten heavily, but we’ve bounced back in style really, and I think that we thoroughly deserved this win.

“It’s all about hard work and discipline, the players have showed that tonight, and maybe on another day we could’ve got a few more goals as well.”

Bishop added: “I think the last time we got a result here was about three years ago, it’s never any easy place to come, but the lads dug in. They’ve stuck with the game plan, they created the chances and took two of them, which we deserved.”

With six points from four league matches, the Seasiders are looking to build momentum.

“Again, we’ve got a game plan, and we have got eight days to prepare for it now,” said Bishop.“The important thing for us is to make sure we are ready and are in the best possible shape we can be to try and get the points again this weekend.”

Aberystwyth Town have this week strengthened their midfield options by signing talented young midfielder Tom Price from Swansea City, on loan until January.

The 19 year-old signed an extension to his contract at the Liberty Stadium in June, having made 17 appearances last season for the Swans’ Under 23 side, which reached the Premier Cup semi-finals.

He was also in the FAW Youth Cup winning Under-19s team, which beat The New Saints at Park Avenue - the third time he has won the Trophy as a player.

Price, who has featured as a striker and a defender during his 10 years in the Swans’ academy, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s home game against Airbus.

“We are delighted to announce the loan signing of young midfielder Tom Price, and everyone at Park Avenue welcomes him to the club,” confirmed a club statement.

“Aberystwyth Town FC would like to thank the management and administrative staff of Swansea City FC for their assistance in arranging this loan deal, until January.”

The Seasiders had also moved to strengthen their defensive options in midweek with the signing Adam Hughes on loan from The New Saints until New Year.

Hughes, who had scored for the Saints against Aber on Monday, came straight into the starting side at Cefn Druids, and he follows loan goalkeeper Connor Roberts in joining from Park Hall.
