AFTER their heavy Gwynedd League defeat at Bodedern, things didn’t get much better for Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs’ Reserves as they lost 5-1 at home to Harlech at Cae Clyd last Wednesday evening.
With the visitors well on top throughout George Sutherns completed a first half hat-trick for the visitors, with his goals after 15, 29 and 40 minutes.
Former Blaenau player Emlyn Jennings then made it 4-0 on 66 minutes, before Tomos Williams scored his side’s consolation effort after 8 minutes.
There was still time for Harlech to complete the scoring with the last kick of the match by Darren Parry.
In other midweek action, Nefyn United had lost 7-3 at home to Llanystumdwy, despite Ifan Jones netting a hat-trick in reply, with goals on 15, 40 and 60 minutes.
The visitors emphatically took charge of the game with goals from Guto Gwenallt on 2 minutes, Mark Cook on 6, Robat Griffiths on 42, Ceirion Jones on 44, Mark Cook on 47 and Iwan Lloyd with a late brace of goals on 83 and 90 minutes.
Last weekend, Harlech Town showed fighting qualities as they rallied from being two goals down to share the Gwynedd League points 2-2 with Beaumaris Town.
Beaumaris set out their stall with goals from Tyler Looney after 25 minutes and Liam McCann early in the second half, but Harlech’s spirited recovery produced replies from Darren Parry on 66 minutes and the point saver by Dan Griffith 10 minutes from the end.
Newcomers Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs Reserves hit even bigger trouble in match number three, at home to likely title contenders Bontnewydd, as the Cae Clyd side were subjected to an 11-0 beating, with the half time arrears being 4-0.
Bontnewydd had six scorers, with Terry Jones achieving a hat-trick, after 12, 68 and 70 minutes, Aled Steele, Dan Evans and Alun Williams bagged doubles and Rhys Roberts and Rhun Roberts also netted singles.
Bodedern Athletic, winners of three-in-a-row with 20 goals into the bargain, meanwhile beat Talysarn Celts 3-0, courtesy of their second half strikes by Ricky Jones on 63 minutes and Matthew Jones on 71, plus an own-goal near the end.
In midweek, Bontnewydd had registered a 3-1 win over Waunfawr with goals from Aled Steele on 25 minutes, Dan Evans on 70 and Rhys Roberts on 75, before Adam Jones replied on 80.
Nefyn United’s match with league newcomers Bro Goronwy was postponed last weekend, because of wind and rain at Cae’r Delyn, and another postponement included Bethesda Athletic and Waunfawr.
