BONT had to put the champagne on ice as they missed their chance to secure the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League title last weekend with a 2-0 defeat to Borth Reserves.

A win would have sealed the division one title with a game to go, but Borth produced a strong performance to deny Bont with their goals from Jake Bush and Tony Mainwaring at Park Avenue.

Second-placed Bow Street Reserves can close the gap to one point at the top if they win their game in hand against Talybont this week.

Talybont booked their place in the Cambrian Tyres League Cup Final with a 4-1 win over Penrhyncoch Reserves, with Ben Dimmack replying.

Mike South, Bari Southgate, Robbie Southgate and Mike Fitzpatrick sealed progress, to set up a showpiece against Bont or Machynlleth Reserves, who play their semi-final tonight (Wednesday).

In division two action, Darrell Johns scored a hat-trick and Mike Worsell scored twice as Dolgellau Reserves beat Talybont Reserves 3-1, with Chris Wylde replying.
