BONT avenged their 1-0 defeat to Aberystwyth University Reserves eight days earlier as they beat the students 5-1 at Parc Pandyfedwen to move joint top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League.

The win moved Bont level on points with title rivals Bow Street Reserves, with two league games to go, and the two sides clash in a vital showdown this Saturday.

Andrew Carree put Bont in front when he slotted the ball under the advancing keeper, after good work by Ben Lewis, but the students hit back when a bounce caught the defence out and Jamie Stuart drove the ball past keeper Trevor Jenkins.

Bont, needing to win their last three games, pushed on and after a succession of corners were awarded a penalty, which Carree stepped up to fire into the top corner.

Carree made it 3-1 when he beat the keeper poke in off the post, capping a fine display from the ageless frontman with another hat-trick.

The visitors forced a good save from Jenkins before the break, but Bont continued to push the pace in the second half and when Charlie Parr found Owen Evans, he rounded the keeper to score his first goal of the season.

Bont made it 5-1 when Parr found Andrew Gilbert, who flicked the ball up and scored an unstoppable volley from 20 yards to top off an excellent performance.

Tregaron Turfs are 10 points adrift, but with three games in hand, after they hammered Borth United Reserves 9-1 on Friday night.

Llyr Davies scored a hat-trick, and Ifan Jones and Carwyn Earey both netted twice, along with Reece Humphries, with his first for the club, and an own goal.

A Guto Roberts penalty and Sion Evans earned Llanilar a 2-1 success at Machynlleth Reserves, with Jacob Hudson replying, whilst goals by Robbie Southgate and Paul James, with a brace, earned Padarn a 3-1 win at Penrhyncoch Reserves.

Another four goals from Ben Holt and an Andrew Papirnyk effort earned Tywyn/Bryncrug Reserves a 5-2 win over Llanon in division two.

Doubles from Luke Fox and Alex Roberts, and a penalty from Sean Fox meanwhile earned Aberdyfi a 5-0 win at Padarn Reserves in the Second Division Trophy.
