A BEN Lewis hat-trick sent Bont 10 points clear at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one in a 4-1 victory at home to Aberystwyth University Reserves.

After an evenly matched opening half an hour, a move which started from the keeper was finished by Lewis for a 1-0 interval lead.

George Taylor grabbed a deserved equaliser for the students on the hour mark and they looked promising until Lewis swung the pendulum back in the favour of the Tangerines with a fantastic effort on his weaker left foot to restore the lead.

An Andrew Gilbert free-kick gave Bont a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes to go, before Lewis completed his hat-trick with a chip over the keeper, to seal his man of the match performance.

Bow Street Reserves are 10 points adrift in second place, but with a game in hand, after they were beaten 3-2 at home against Llanilar.

Ryan Edwards put Llanilar ahead after just 10 minutes, with a low finish, and soon it was 2-0 as a short back pass was pounced upon by Guto Roberts, who took it beyond the keeper and slotted home into the empty net.

It got worse for Bow Street when Dan John delivered a superb cross into Guto Roberts, who was fouled by a rash challenge, and Ryan Hopkins sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

Bow Street responded just before half-time when Guto Harvard found space on the edge of the box and his low strike found its way into the bottom corner of the net.

Street came out positively in the second half, but were frustrated by some desperate blocks and a good save from keeper Lewis Tomlins.

A dangerous cross in from the right, however, was inadvertently put into his own net by Llanilar’s Steff Davies to further reduce the deficit.

Street pushed on in the final 25 minutes, but at the other end Ifan Rees struck the bar from distance, and Clive Morgan forced a save.

In stoppage time, however, Guto Harvard cut in from the left and fired a superb effort just over the bar as Llanilar held on to win.

Padarn United meanwhile registered a solid 5-1 win in boggy conditions at Borth United Reserves, with goals from Paul James, Graham Thomas, Jason Davies with a brace and Matthew Parry.

A Matty Lewis penalty and a Matthew Merry header earned Penrhyncoch Reserves a 2-2 draw with Machynlleth Reserves, who netted through Dion Kohler and Richard Winchurch.
