PWLLHELI were reduced to second-best by Lock Stock Welsh Alliance division one title favourites Conwy Borough, who continued their drive for title honours with a 5-1 win at the Recreation Ground.

With a strong wind in their favour, the visitors opened their account on 19 minutes when Guto Hughes crossed for Sion Hogan to head across the box, for Gerwyn Jones to force the ball over the line.

Boro doubled their lead on 26 minutes when Sion Hogan was felled in the box, and Leigh Craven converted the penalty.

With the wind at their backs in the second half, Pwhelli halved their deficit on 51 minutes as Martin Smith headed in from a free kick, but then Boro soon made it 3-1 through a Gerwyn Jones header.

Jamie Roberts, Leigh Craven and Tommy Creamer all went close for the league leaders, but on 76 minutes Creamer broke down the left wing and crossed for Roberts to bundle home their fourth goal.

Minutes later Creamer hit the post, and Tom Cad Williams missed a decent chance, but the scoring was complete on 90 minutes when, after good play by Craven, Creamer got a deserved goal to round off a 5-1 win in difficult conditions.

Penrhyndeudraeth again found the going tough when they went down 3-1 at home to second placed Llangefni Town.

Matthew Jones opened Llangefni’s account on 33 minutes, and Callum McMinimee doubled the lead on 56, before Jones pounced again with the third goal on 67.

Penrhyn’s Carwyn Price produced the 72nd minute reply, but that was of scant consolation as they continued their bleak run of six games without a win this year.

Llandudno Albion were 5-1 winners over Mynydd Llandygai, courtesy of goals from Daniel Evans on 7 minutes, Ricky Jones on 25, Connor Davies on 74 and penalties by Joel Lloyd on 81 and 90.

Mynydd drew level at one stage at 1-1 through Gerwyn Roberts on 13 minutes.

Basement side Nantlle Vale held St Asaph City to a 1-1 draw at their Penygroes ground, with Vale’s Cai Parker scoring on 23 minutes and City’s Mike Corbett on 85.

In the Mawddach Challenge Cup second round, Llanrwst United, the 2013 winners, made progress with a 2-0 win over Greenfield, courtesy of quick-fire goals before the interval by Gwyn Jones on 41 minutes and Elliot Llewelyn on 43.

Llandyrnog United needed extra-time to overcome division two hosts Felinheli 4-2 at their Cae Seilo ground, after a 2-2 deadlock after 90 minutes played.

The crucial scorers for Llandyrnog during the additional half-hour were Mark Peyton on 113 minutes and Mark Roberts completing his hat-trick on 119 minutes.

Llandyrnog had struck through Roberts on 55 and 68 minutes, whereas Felinheli’s Connor Japheth netted on 60 and then Dylan Jones on 89, to force extra-time.
