BORTH United were beaten 2-1 at home in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as Dyffryn Banw hit back from a goal down to maintain their fine away record.

Despite the heavy rain of the last few days the Uppingham Fields pitch looked good, and early chances saw Guto Huws and Ryan Davies go close from distance.

Alan Williams’ header went just passed the post for Banw, but the scoreline remained goalless at the half-time interval.

Borth made an immediate impact after the break as Ryan Davies’ through ball fell to Guto Huws, to slide the ball passed the visiting keeper for a 1-0 advantage.

Borth continued to press forward and Clive Morgan saw his lobbed shot tipped over the bar, before Josh Ferreira with a low shot went close to increasing the lead.

To their credit the visitors raised their game and on the hour a Banw player was upended in the penalty area and Tom Foulkes levelled matters from the spot.

Five minutes later a free kick by Rhodri Davies rebounded to safety off the Borth crossbar, and as the match reached the last 10 minutes Davies again rattled the bar, but this time the rebound shot was diverted into his own net by a defender.

Borth battled for a last gasp equaliser, but Banw held out to make it three wins from three away from home this season.Meanwhile David Edwards scored a hat-trick as Dolgellau hit back to register a 3-1 home win over Rhayader Town, for their third league success this season.

Rhayader’s Jamie Evans had opened the scoring when he cut in and saw his shot deflected off the challenge of Steffan Parry and into the far corner.

Dolgellau replied when a long ball over the top from impressive youngster Reece Owen found Edwards to side-foot the ball into the far corner.

In the second period, Ryan Thomas played the ball to the right to Charlie Owen, who set up Edwards to race clear and score, and two minutes later, Owen again squared for Edwards to complete a well-taken hat-trick.Meanwhile Machynlleth twice hit back from being two goals down to get back onto level terms against Newbridge, only for the hosts to snatch a last-minute winner in a 5-4 thriller.Machynlleth had got onto level terms through goals from Calum Roberts, Alex Davies, Sion Jones and an own goal, only for an Ollie Woods brace, an Aeron Powell penalty, Kejan Foryszewski and Charlier Boucher to secure the three points.

A Jamie Evans goal earned Four Crosses a 1-1 draw against Waterloo Rovers, who scored through Charlie Proctor, whilst Tom Evans scored twice and Ollie Lewis once as Montgomery won 3-1 at Presteigne, with Curtis Williams replying.
