UNBEATEN Borth United took their chance to move three points clear at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League division two, with a game in hand, as they eased to a 3-0 triumph against Presteigne St Andrews at Llanandras Park.

Liam Lewis was only inches away from opening the scoring with a header, but Borth soon opened their account with 15 minutes on the clock.

Ryan Davies’ perfect pass found Ben Jones to fire beyond the onrushing keeper.

Presteigne’s Adam Crowe headed over with only keeper Sean Gates to beat, but the home team were to later rue that miss.

Borth capitalised when Sam Middleton’s long ball from defence found Ryan Davies wide on the left wing, and he beat a defender to unleash a low strike for 2-0.

Presteigne held the upper hand in the opening exchanges of the second half, with lively centre forward Kieron Lusher impressing, but in the last 10 minutes Borth made sure of the three points when Liam Lewis made it 3-0 with a cool finish.

Elsewhere in division two, goals by Llyr Thomas and Tom Foulkes earned Dyffryn Banw a 2-0 over Dolgellau, and goals from Nathan Prodger and Bryn Jones earned Llansantffraid a 2-0 success at Abermule.
