BORTH United settled for a share of the spoils in the MMP Mid Wales League division two as they claimed a battling 1-1 draw away at Abermule on Saturday.
The Crows made a fine start when Ryan Davies cut inside an unleashed a superb shot into the top corner, but within five minutes the hosts levelled as Rob Bayliss teed up Adam Putson to score with a well-placed strike from a free kick.
Both teams created good chances as the match wore on, with Abermule’s keeper making some fine saves to keep the scores level, but on the balance of play, a draw seemed the fairest result.
Andrew Gittins meanwhile scored a hat-trick as pacesetters Penparcau made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 league matches as they eased to a 5-1 at Presteigne. Ryan Edwards and Liam Jaques also netted.
Second-placed Newbridge kept pace with a solid 4-1 triumph at Knighton Town, with goals from Ollie Woods, Aeron Powell, from the penalty spot, Lydon Jones and Scott Davies securing the points.
Machynlleth are also flying high in third position as they made it eight wins in row, with goals from Jac Petrie and Harry Vince Holt sealing a 2-1 win over Churchstoke.
Aberystwyth University notched their fifth league win as they emerged as 2-1 winners at home against Dyffryn Banw. Skipper Adam Gascoigne opened their scoring with a right footed volley from just outside the box, but Gerald Davies headed an equaliser for Banw after the interval, before Tristan Orton won it with an in-swinging corner that found the net.
David Edwards scored twice and Charlie Owen once as Dolgellau notched a 3-0 win over Forden United at the Marian. Jamie Evans’ goal meanwhile earned Rhayader Town a 1-1 draw with Waterloo Rovers, who scored through Luke Evans.
