TWO goals from Ifan Burrell steered Bow Street through to the second round of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup as they notched a 4-1 win at neighbours Borth United.
Tomos Wyn Roberts and Ryan Edwards also scored at Uppingham Fields, before Gareth Kelsall-Hughes scored a well-deserved reply for the division two hosts. Runners-up to Penrhyncoch in last season’s final, the Magpies took the lead on 25 minutes when a corner was met by Roberts for his debut goal for the first team.
As Street began to take control, the lively Andrew Gittins broke free and when his chipped shot hit the base of the post, Ifan Burrell was on hand to slide the ball into the net to give the visitors a handy 2-0 lead at half time.
Bow Street continued to put the pressure on the Borth defence as the second half progressed, and Burrell scored his second goal midway through to virtually put the tie beyond Borth’s reach.
Ryan Edwards sealed the win with a late goal, before Borth had the last word when Gareth Kelsall-Hughes swept a late low shot beyond Street keeper Ian Evans.
