BOW Street closed in on a top three position in the MMP Mid Wales League division one as they notched an excellent 3-2 win against high-flying Welshpool Town last weekend.

Llion Rhys Jenkins opened the scoring for the Magpies at Cae Piod after a quarter of an hour, but Welshpool hit back straight away when Ricky Litchfield capitalised from a corner to level matters.

Street restored their lead when a superb move was completed with a great finish by Steff Richards, and when Josh Crowl made it 3-1 after a poor touch from the Pool keeper the points looked in the bag.

The visitors pulled one back with 10 minutes to go, when Litchfield netted his second goal of the game, but Street held firm to move within two points of third-placed Welshpool, with a game in hand.

Meanwhile leaders Llanidloes Town moved nine points clear at the top of the table with a crucial 2-0 win over second-placed Builth Wells at Victoria Avenue.

Connor Bird tapped home the opener from Ashley Owen’s cross-shot for a 1-0 interval lead, and although Builth fought back well, Owen sealed the three points in the second half with a screamer of a shot.

Llanrindod Wells missed a chance to climb into the top three as they slipped to a shock 3-0 defeat at home to in-form Kerry, who went into the game with a bare 11 players, including the manager up front.

Max Mclaughlin hit a brace for the Lambs, whilst prolific winger and league Player of the Month Luke Mumford - who has netted a remarkable 17 goals in nine games - was also on the scoresheet again.

Peter Rees scored twice as Caersws took their chances to record a 5-0 win at Aberaeron, with Ryan Davies, Tom Goodwin and Mark Edmondson also on target.

Berriew’s good form continued as they notched an emphatic 9-0 win over a Tywyn/Bryncrug side that looks to be in free-fall. Richard Davies led the way with a hat-trick, Niall Thomas and Harry Watkins both scored twice, and Joe Haycock and Xavier Matisse also netted goals.

Joey Price scored a hat-trick as Radnor Valley notched a 3-0 win over Carno, whilst goals from Aled Davies, with a brace, and Jack Williams sealed a 3-1 win for Montgomery Town at Llansantffraid.
