NEIL Evans netted a dramatic last-minute winner as Bow Street lifted themselves up to fourth position in the Spar Mid Wales League division one with a last-gasp 3-2 win against local rivals Machynlleth.
As as the game entered into injury time, Evans struck a thrilling winner to secure his side’s 12th league win, and lift the Magpies one point clear of Aberaeron.
The away win, which capped a committed performance, will put Street in good heart for their Spar Mid Wales League Cup quarter-final at Berriew on Saturday.
Machynlleth had rallied from being two goals down, and they looked to have secured a hard-earned point, courtesy of goals from man of the match Max Jones, and Sion Jones, from the penalty spot.
Bow Street had opened up their two-goal advantage through goals from Llion Jenkins, against his former club, and Tom Williams, but the hosts rallied well, before Evans scored the winner at the death.
Machynlleth, who have now lost 15 league matches, could also take heart from a spirited performance, and they will be eager to bounce back against basement side Montgomery this weekend.
Llanidloes Town returned to action with a fine 2-0 win at Knighton Town, to keep alive their chances of a top five finish.
The Daffs, who have endured a stop-start campaign since the turn of the year, leapfrogged their hosts into eighth place.
Goals in each half by George Clarke and Rhys Evans secured the spoils, and they are just five points adrift of fourth-placed Aberaeron, with two games in hand.
Clarke headed the opener from a Matthew Savage corner on 25 minutes, and further chances saw Rhys Evans spurn a one-on-one chance, whilst Joe Evans fired just wide, and Gareth Owen headed over.
The points were sealed five minutes from time as top scorer Rhys Evans latched on to a poor back pass to double the lead.
Tywyn/Brynrug were meanwhile beaten 4-1 at home against Hay St Mary’s, who took the spoils courtesy of goals from Steve Morgan, Adi Lawford, Will Goodwin and man of the match Callum Maddy.
The Saints got off to a great start, with Steve Morgan turning a defender inside out in the second minute before shooting across the keeper into the bottom corner.
For the next half an hour, the visitors kept possession well, but Tywyn stepped up before the interval, without seriously testing visiting goalkeeper Jordan Baker.
The Saints doubled their lead in the 47th minute, however, when winger Adi Lawford finished a good passing move by lobbing over the keeper from 12 yards out.
Tywyn came back well and saw a lot more of the ball, hitting the post on two occasions, and twice being denied by good saved by Baker from close range.
The game was put to bed in the 73rd minute, however, when the hard working Will Goodwin finished off after Morgan had unselfishly played the ball to him.
Five minutes later a Brendan Hackett corner was headed away from goal, only for Matthew to hit the ball first time from 25 yards out into the top corner of the net.
Sion scored a late consolation goal in the 88th minute, but there was no way back.
Goals by Jonny Williams and Ben Jones earned Llandrindod Wells a 2-1 win at Welshpool, with Will Pritchard replying.
