A YOUTHFUL Bow Street made a winning start to their new campaign in the MMP Mid Wales League as first half goals from Llion Jenkins and Ryan Evans set up a 2-1 home win over Caersws.
The Magpies made the breakthrough when Llion Jenkins charged in to score after a brilliant header from Tom Wyn had hit the crossbar, and as the weather conditions deteriorated Evans hammered home the hosts’ second goal.
Steffan Richards also hit the crossbar, but the Bluebirds fought back in the second half and reduced the deficit when Peter Rees converted, following a good save from keeper Oliver Farebrother.
It proved to be a tough day at the office for Aberaeron, who made the long journey to Kerry with just 12 players, with no recognised keeper in the squad, and despite a spirited effort they went down 4-2 at Dolforgan Park.
New signing Liam Doherty and Matthew Evans cancelled out a two-goal lead for the hosts, but Kerry prevailed with a double from Max Mclaughlin, and one goal each from brothers Luke Mumford and Matt Mumford.
Llanidloes Town, having narrowly missed out on the title last season, made an ideal start with a convincing 4-0 Friday night victory at newly-promoted Montgomery.
The Daffs took charge with new signing Daf Carruthers latching on to Ash Owen’s through ball before producing a neat lob over the advancing keeper to open the scoring.
Hartrick doubled the Daffs' advantage and Connor Bird headed in following an excellent run and cross down the left by Gareth Owen before the interval for a 3-0 lead.
Tom Evans had a rare chance for Monty close to half-time, but Llani remained on top and substitute Niall Coleridge rounded off the scoring late on when heading in Ash Owen’s cross from a well-worked corner.
Tywyn/Bryncrug slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home against newly-promoted Four Crosses, having been reduced to 10 men with the scores still all square, when Ben Richards was shown red.
Skipper Kyle Wilson made the breakthrough when he netted for Crosses, but Tom Allen-Davies set up Nick Williams to equalise for Tywyn, before Steve Bishton won the points.
Will Thomas scored all four goals as Welshpool Town won 4-3 at Carno, who had opened the scoring through Josh Matthews, before Joseph Bell and Andy Evans pulled back second half goals.
A brace from Jack Hammond and a Mark Jones goal sealed a 3-2 win for Builth Wells over Berriew, who netted through Richard Davies and Steffan Rogers, with a penalty sealing the win.
Strikers Matty Tong and Greg Preece both scored twice as Hay St Mary’s notched an emphatic 7-1 win at Llansantffraid, with Jack Evans, Callum Maddy and Adi Lawford also netting goals. Jake Harris replied.
Llandrindod Wells scored twice in the first half to notch a 2-0 win in their curtain-raiser away at Radnor Valley on Friday evening, with a Michael Collister penalty and a Kieran McCarley free kick sealing the win.
A makeshift Radnor side had to play 40 minutes with just 10 men, before finishing with nine due to injuries.
