AN EXTRA-TIME winner from Steffan Richards sealed a thrilling 3-2 win for Bow Street at local rivals Borth United, to set up a second round tie against Aberaeron in the MMP Mid Wales League Cup.

Goals from Lee Crumpler and a last-gaps leveller from Tom Wyn Roberts ensured extra-time against their division two opponents, before a class finish from Richards finally won it for the Magpies.

On a bitterly cold afternoon at Uppingham Fields, Borth had taken just five minutes to take the lead when Justin Quinn’s low shot from 20 yards out hit the net.

Bow Street hit back on 15 minutes when Lee Crumpler’s header from a free kick beat keeper Ben Willis to equalise - but within a minute Borth, with six first team players missing through injury, regained the lead when Ryan Davies cut in from the left wing and scored with a deft finish.

The Magpies, themselves with just one fit substitute available, took control as the second half progressed, but it looked like it wasn’t going to be their day as they missed a penalty, and twice hit the bar.

In the final minutes, however, their persistence was rewarded as Tom Wyn Roberts scored with a cool finish and send the match into an additional half an hour.
