MANAGER Hugh Clarke lamented a poor start as his Llanidloes Town side succumbed 1-0 at home against Bow Street, to remain in the lower regions of the Spar Mid Wales Division One.

After conceding after just two minutes to a Dean Evans header, the Daffs were on the back foot for the rest of the half as the visitors generally called the tune.

The hosts improved after the break, looked threatening from set pieces, but were unable to find a way back as they slipped to a defeat that kept them 12th in the table.

“Bow Street were miles better than us in the first half, and could have been out of sight at half time,”admitted Clarke. “Everything we talked about before the game went out the window.

“In the second half we were a lot better, we put them under pressure with corners and free kicks, and we had a couple of chances.

“Overall though we did not do enough to get anything from the game, and we need to be more creative from our open play, and can’t just rely on set plays.”

The Daffs had gone into this encounter in good heart, after boosting their prospects of climbing the table with back-to-back wins.

They were unable to find a way back after conceding early on to Evans’ header, however, with Harri Clarke going closest to scoring an equaliser in the second half, when his headed effort from a set play was well saved.

New signing George Mitten came on in the first half for injured George Clarke, the former Welshpool midfielder joining after recovering from a knee operation.

Carno were left to rue missed chances as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Radnor Valley, with Joey Price and Geraint Lloyd scoring for the home side.

In a first half that Carno had dominated from start to finish, the Greens somehow found themselves 1-0 down at the half-time interval.

Sloppy defending saw Valley take the lead with seconds to go before half-time, although the visitors created several opportunities.

Gregg Brown fired wide from a tight angle, Peter Rees was denied in a one-on-one, and Ioan Humphreys saw a point-blank header saved by the keeper.

Richie Evans also saw a goal-bound shot blocked, before Ben Jones fired over the crossbar as Carno failed to make the breakthrough.

The visitors, however, were back on level terms five minutes into the second half as Gregg Brown released Richie Evans, and he slipped the ball through the defender’s legs, before slotting passed the keeper.

Carno had the majority of the ball, but failed to take their chances and Valley took the lead with 15 minutes to go when they were hit on the counter-attack.

Sub Andrew Evans nearly pulled a goal back with his first touch, but he failed to test the keeper after being released by Richie Evans.

Andrew Evans headed home a Jordan Jones corner level matters with seven minutes to go, and then Evans hit the post in the final minutes, and saw a goal bound effort cleared away.

Peter Rees was also denied what appeared to be a stone wall penalty in added time as the game finished 2-2.

Aberaeron retuned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Welshpool as goals from Sion Clarke and Gareth Evans sealed victory.

Mark Edmondson scored four as Tywyn/Bryncrug registered a welcome 6-0 home win over a depleted Knighton Town side, with Tom Allen-Davies and Nick Williams also scoring.

Berriew made it 10 games unbeaten after a second half comeback earned them a 3-1 away win at Machynlleth.

Alex Davies had scored first for Machynlleth, but the visitors hit back courtesy of a Karl Seliaerts penalty and goals from Matt Mumford and Richard Davies.

Brendan Hackett netted twice as Hay St Marys beat Montgomery 4-2, with Jack Biggs and Steve Morgan also scoring for the Saints.
