THERE were mixed home-comings for several players on show at Cae Clyd as Blaenau Amateurs registered a solid 7-3 victory over mid-table visitors Llanllyfni.

Brothers Neil and Dafydd Reynolds were making their first home appearances for Blaenau, and Huw Parry was back from University.

Meanwhile former skipper Gareth Roberts and Iwan Jones were in the losing side.

Young Cai Henshaw led the way with a hat-trick, scoring on 42, 90 and 92 minutes, as the visitors found no answer to the speedy counter attacks of the home side.

Neil Reynolds had blocked a goal bound effort on the goal-line, but Gerwyn Williams headed the visitors in front from a corner kick.

At the other end keeper Ben Tate was brave in diving to block a Bryn Humphreys chance, and Sion Hughes went close, before Henshaw equalised before the break.

Early in the second half, Henshaw’s effort struck the bar and then Tate did well to keep out a Humphreys shot.

Just before the hour, however, Henshaw’s pin-point cross found Humphreys, who scored on 61 minutes.

Sion Hughes soon made it 3-1 for the Amateurs, but then four minutes later Ollie Dukes headed a high ball beyond his own goalkeeper.

The scores were level again when Iwan Morris netted on 77 minutes, and the visitors went close again as Chris Parry struck the woodwork.

Blaenau, however, then snatched victory with four goals in a remarkable last seven minutes by Ceri Roberts, Joe Dukes and Henshaw twice for his hat-trick.

The only disappointing note for the home side was that five members of their team ended up in the referee’s book, some for dissent.
