LLANBOIDY registered a well-deserved 2-0 win over Cardigan Town at the King George Field in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one, and could have won the match by more.

The visitors had opened the scoring early in the second half when Ellis Williams netted, and they almost killed the game off when an effort hit the woodwork, with Cardigan keeper Steff Marsden stranded.

The hosts pushed on through the likes of Ben Davies and James Evans in midfield, but the points were secured late on when left winger Tomos Rogers let fly with a scorching long range shot, which looped over Marsden into the net.

Crannog lost their 100 per cent record as they were edged out 1-0 by reigning league champions Lampeter Town, who scored the only goal in the first minute.

Gethin Hunter was put through to stroke the ball into the net, and although Crannog went close when Matthew Smith saw his shot well saved by the keeper, there was to be no way back.

George Colven had one excellent chance late on, but Lampeter managed to hang on to take the three points.

Llandysul took the honours as they won their local derby match 2-1 at home against Newcastle Emlyn.

Winger Jesse Clayton put a pin-point throughball in for Gareth Winston, who tucked the ball away at the near post for the Swallows.

Emlyn got back into the game as the half wore on with a couple of long range shots from Dion Davies, playing his first game this season, but Llandysul custodian Nathan Jones was up to the task and pulled off a number of superb saves.

The Reds did eventually bag an equaliser when Dion Davies fired home from outside the box, and Cory Davies and Kes Pennell then had good chances to win it.

With just a few minutes to play, however, Swallows winger Harri Wilson fired the ball into the box and after a scramble in front of goal, Lewis Jones was on hand to steer in the winner.

Bargod Rangers picked up their first points of the season as a Jake Kelly hat-trick inspired them to a 4-2 home victory over Ffostrasol.

Ffostrasol hit back with a couple of goals, before Josh Grota made the game safe with Rangers’ fourth goal.

MAESGLAS hit back from a two goal deficit in a classic game of two halves to draw 2-2 away at Dewi Stars.

The youthful Stars raced into a deserved 2-0 half time lead, courtesy of strikes from brothers Gethin and Ifan Thomas, and indeed it could have been more.

It was the Stars’ defence that was stretched after the interval, and the visitors halved the deficit on the hour when Kierman Harman outjumped the home defence to head a fine goal from the edge of the box.

Maesglas kept pressing, but the Stars held out until five minutes from the end when referee Nigel Edwards awarded the visitors a penalty for an infringement just inside the box.

Garfield Davies despatched the spot kick to earn a point, giving 17 year old keeper Iestyn Edwards no real chance of saving.

Goals from Mike King and Dan Davies steered Aberporth to a narrow win over Ffostrasol Reserves, who scored through Gareth Davies, Tomos Jones, whilst Llandysul Reserves took the honours at New Quay 5-2.

In Division three a brace by Crannog Reserves’ Martin Ferris helped his team secure a 3-0 win over Lampeter Reserves, with Jack Davies also finding the net.

There was a win also for Maesglas Reserves who saw off Llanboidy Reserves 2-1.
