CARDIGAN Town came up trumps in their local derby as they beat Cilgerran 4-0, and it was sweet revenge for the Magpies, having lost to the Coraclemen on the opening day of the season.

Iestyn Evans opened the scoring when he converted at the second attempt, after his initial free kick was blocked by the wall, and the shot beat keeper Dafydd Nicholls with a wicked bounce.

Evans added a second goal soon after, again from a free kick, and although Cilgerran pushed hard after the break, Josh Mellor fired home the third goal, and the hard-working Emlyn George then completed their scoring.

The match unfortunately ended on a sour note as keeper Nicholls was helped off the field after sustaining a serious shoulder injury.

Cardigan though were well worth their win, and youngsters Evans, Tomos Toft and Josh Mellor played some smart football, especially in the second half.

League leaders Llandysul were in free-scoring mood as they registered a very emphatic 15-0 away win over New Quay at Parc Arthur.

Ian Barrett put the visitors ahead when he hit his first goal of the season from the edge of the box, and fellow midfielder Terry Maynard made it 2-0 with a header from a Lewis Jones cross.

On 15 minutes Simon Davies turned sharply on the edge of the box and smashed the ball home to make it 3-0.

Scott Thomas added two more goals, as did Simon Davies to complete a first half hat-trick and put the hosts 7-0 ahead at the break.

The visitors ran amok in the second half with Simon Davies getting his fourth goal of the game, whilst Ben Thomas and Scott Thomas both completed hat-tricks.

Dean Jones netted from the penalty spot, Terry Maynard added another with a great lob over the keeper and sub Matthew Newbold also poached a late goal.

On Friday, Newcastle Emlyn made three changes to the team that had lost heavily to Llandysul and they ran out comfortable 6-1 winners at home against Felinfach.

Front runner Daniel Davies opened the scoring, and further goals then followed in the first half through Jake Harris and Oliver Evans.

In the second half, teenager Jake Shakespeare pounced for his first goal for the team, before a John Curran penalty and Daniel Davies completed the scoring.

Lampeter Town remain on the shirt tails of leaders Llandysul following another convincing win, but they had to come from behind to beat Bargod Rangers 8-1.

Terry Witts equalised from the penalty spot but the remainder of the half was fairly even, with Rangers playing much better than their league position suggested.

Luke Lovell changed all that when, with his back to goal on the half way, he turned and ran through the heart of the defence to calmly slot home past the keeper.

A minute later Scott Davies squared to Gethin Davies to make it 3-1 and the second half was one-way traffic as Scott Davies then helped himself to a couple of goals.

Lovell blasted home from edge of box after great work by Gethin Hunter, and then Hunter scored with a good header, before Christy Gale was put through to complete the visitors’ scoring.

St Dogmaels beat Crannog 5-4 in a dramatic encounter, which eventually went the way of the hosts when George Colven netted a winner deep into injury time.

Crannog had opened the scoring when the impressive Gary Davies slid the ball home from a tight angle, but the Saints hit back when Rhys Jones fired home a penalty, and then Chris Jones finished at the far post.

Crannog though had the final say of the half when Colven struck to make it 2-2.

Gary Davies grabbed his second after the interval, but against the run of play winger Jones smashed home a volley from the edge of the penalty box to make it 3-3.

With four minutes left, Saints’ skipper Jason Williams put them 4-3 ahead, but Rhys Davies then levelled matters from the spot, after a hand ball offence.

Then in injury time, Huw Reed hit a superb pass to Gary Davies and the veteran striker chested the ball down and picked out Colven, who finished at the far post to make it 5-4 to the hosts.
