Cefn Druids v Bala Town
The Rock, 13 March, 2.30pm
Following last weekend’s resumption of the JD Cymru Premier League season, The Lakesiders are back on their travels with a trip to The Rock to face Cefn Druids this afternoon.
Bala battled for a share of the spoils at the league leaders’ Park Hall ground on Saturday, holding The New Saints to a goalless draw but face a different challenge in relegation-threatened Cefn Druids today.
The Ancients are bottom of the table with just 12 points, and parted ways with manager Bruno Lopes and first team coach David Taylor this week.
The club’s head of coaching, Jayson Starkey, will be in charge today as the hosts seek to finish Phase 1 of the Cymru Premier on a positive note.
Playing against a side under new management can often prove tricky and Bala manager Colin Caton, who was pleased with his team’s performance at The New Saints, has warned against complacency for today’s encounter.
He said: “It will be a difficult game.We only scored in the last 30 seconds the winner against them at Maes Tegid.
“There are no easy games in the league and if we’re complacent we’ll get beat.
“But if we approach the game in the way we can do we’ll be ok.
“But complacency is a worry and it’s important that we don’t fall into the category of being lethargic.”
Cefn Druids have only managed three wins in their 18 league games so far, coming against Caernarfon Town, Haverfordwest County and Flint Town, while also taking points from Penybont and Cardiff Met.
The have lost both their games since the Cymru Premier restarted, 1-0 against Barry Town at The Rock, and in another home match, 4-2 at the hands of Newtown, with all six goals coming in the first half.
