VETERAN Andrew Jones, who won the Emrys Morgan Cup with Dewi Stars 26 years ago, scored a late extra-time winner to secure the villagers a place in the third round with a 2-1 win over Felindre.
Jones, who is a fortnight short of his 50th birthday, only came in at the last moment to take his place on the substitutes' bench in order to help his team, who were struggling for numbers.
Left back Daniel Williams had opened the scoring for Stars in the first half with a powerful drive into the bottom corner, after a well-worked move from a corner.
Felindre fought back and they eventually equalised on 70 minutes when John Reynolds’ goal-bound effort struck Guto Green and was deflected beyond Carwyn Richards into the net.
With just five minutes remaining of extra-time, Gethin Thomas’ well struck free kick from 30 yards was well saved, but the advancing Jones fired home the rebound into the far corner.
Tregaron Turfs notched a 4-0 win over Montgomeryshire League side Llanymynech, with two goals each from Cledan Davies, taking his tally to 22 goals in 10 games, and Rhun Garner.
Liam Doherty scored four goals as Costcutter Ceredigion League side Cardigan were emphatic 9-0 winners away at Dolgellau Reserves. Jac Blackford also netted a brace, and he was joined on the scoresheet by his father Steve Blackford, player-boss James Evans and Steff Evans.
Ryan Hopkins was the star for Llanilar as his four goals secured a 4-3 win at Talgarth, who scored through Ben Sharman, Alex Simmonds and Alex Didenko’s penalty.
Penparcau Reserves meanwhile knocked out Mid Wales League (South) side Llandrindod Wells Reserves 4-0, with goals scored by Jake Bush, Keenan Thomas, Lee Morgan and Gareth Hughes.
Goals by Pat Daniel and Jason Davies steered Padarn through with a 2-0 home win over Welshpool Reserves.
New Quay beat Montgomeryshire League side Llanfechain to keep up their unbeaten record with a 5-2 win.
An early penalty by Charlie Dent was followed by goals from Ollie Edwards, Jack Chetwynd and Will Davies before the interval, with Jimmy Jones netting a fifth goal.
Llanboidy let a two-goal lead on the hour slip as they lost 3-2 at Trefonnen, after scoring through Bartosz Kasperski and Ewan Jones. The Montgomeryshire League side hit back with quick-fire goals from Jordan Dean, with a brace, and the winner from Graham Dyke.
Talybont were thrashed 12-0 by Brecon Corries, with Joel Evans and Paul Keddle both scoring four times, along with goals by Damien Daniels, Craig Evans, Gareth Aplin and Nathan Collacott.Borth United Reserves bowed out with a 2-0 defeat to Costcutter Ceredigion League division two side Aberaeron Reserves, who secured their win with goals through Leighton Doherty and Rhydian Davies.Elsewhere Guilsfield Reserves just held out in a 5-4 victory at Meifod. Doubles each from Dan Williams and Dan Barton and a Gareth Mansell goal gave the Guils a commanding lead only for Meifod to stage a narrowly unsuccessful comeback with replies from Lee Wilde, Hywel Bannett, Rob Evans and Jac Roberts.
Adam Chessell and Shane Claridge goals sealed Penybont’s 2-0 win over Llangedwyn, while goals from Josh Evans, Jordan Jones, Mason Jones, Gregg Brown and Colin Reynolds cancelled replies from Alex Jones and George Mellor as Llanidloes Town Reserves prevailed 5-2 winners over Bishops Castle.
Gavin Stuart led the scoring with a double in St Harmon’s 4-1 win at home to Corris United with Ceri Powell and Adam Watson also on target.
Meanwhile Sam Williams starred with four goals as Caersws Reserves edged a 4-3 win at Brecon Northcote who replied through Jordan Ingram, Craig Jones and Reuben Rodell.
Rhys Thomas’ double helped Rhayader Town Reserves to a 5-2 win at home to Four Crosses Reserves, with progress sealed by Andrew Evans, Gareth Hughes and an own goal
Llandysul were handed a free passage after Mid Wales League (South) outfit Newcastle were unable to raise a side, as was the case with St Dogmaels, who were due to play against Llanfair United Reserves. Aberporth were also forced to concede their game against Trewern.
Bont’s match against Kerry Reserves, Ffostrasol’s tie at Waterloo, Maesglas against Maesyrhandir and Crannog’s against Llanrhaeadr Reserves were all postponed.
