LLANIDLOES Town made up ground on the Spar Mid Wales League division one pacesetters when securing a 4-2 away victory against Tywyn Bryncrug.

Being one of only two games to survive in the division on Saturday, after snow and rain, the Daffs capitalised to take the spoils in heavy conditions.

The win lifted them to third in the table, seven points adrift of leaders Welshpool with two games in hand, just behind Carno on goal difference.

“The conditions were very heavy, you couldn’t play a lot of football, so it was a case of getting the ball up the pitch and picking up the pieces,” said Llanidloes manager Hugh Clarke.

“We were 3-0 up, they got a couple of soft goals back, but we were by far the better side, and it was a good result.

“A lot can happen in the second half of the season, but we’re there or there abouts, which is all you can ask.”

George Clarke scored twice in the first half to put the Daffs on course for the three points, his first being a fine strike from an angle, before rounding the keeper to double the Daffs’ lead.

Ryan Biggs then set up a third after the interval, with some excellent work down the right, before driving in a cross for Josh Hartrick to tap home.

Tywyn made the most of some defensive hesitation to reply through an own goal, and they pulled back a second in the last minute when Nick Williams converted from the penalty spot, after Drew Reynolds had handled.

The Daffs were not to be denied, however, as they sealed victory moments later when Biggs again showed his energy down the right flank before crossing for Richie Evans to convert.
