LLANIDLOES Town stayed on course for a third place finish by bringing the curtain down on their Spar Mid Wales League season with a 3-0 success at Machynlleth.
They were two goals up at half time, Ashley Owen converting the rebound after a Richie Evans shot had been saved, and Josh Hartrick doubled the advantage following a fine team move.
Hartrick got his second from the penalty spot after the interval, after Ed Clarke had been fouled in the box.
Although they are third at the moment, the Daffs could be overtaken on goal difference should Bow Street win their last two league games.
“Machynlleth are a young side who gave it a good go, but we did well, it was a good way to finish the league,” said Daffs boss Hugh Clarke.
“It will be nice to finish third, but even fourth is an improvement on last season when we were fifth. The top nine is very competitive, so we have got to be pleased.
“The club is moving forward on and off the pitch, hopefully we can pick up a couple of players in the summer to strengthen further.”
Elsewhere Joe Morris scored twice as Carno beat Knighton 2-1, whilst Kerry added to relegated Borth United’s woe with an emphatic 7-0 away triumph.
Luke Mumford led the way with a hat-trick, whilst Max Mclaughlin came off the bench to score a brace, with Keane Marks and Matt Mumford also on target.
On Tuesday, a late Adam Davies goal had seen Welshpool through to the League Cup final with a 2-1 win over Aberaeron at Llanidloes.
Will Thomas had given Pool a first half lead with a strong run and near post finish, but Ryan Evans put the ball through his own net on the hour to bring the Ceredigion side back to level terms.
Evans, however, then made up for his own goal when his long raking ball found Adam Davies, who held up several opponents to squeeze the ball home.
Victory books a final date against either Llanfair United or Bow Street, with a date and venue to be confirmed.
On Monday, Bow Street took the spoils as a Rhun Garner brace, Andrew Gittins and an own goal sealed a solid 4-0 win at Kerry, whilst two goals from Joey Price earned Radnor Valley a 2-0 home win over Berriew.
Champions Llanrhaeadr won 4-0 at Tywyn/Bryncrug, with goals by Adam Burgess, Iain Edmunds, Dan Graham and Tom Evans.
Llanfair were 5-0 winners over Borth on Monday, with doubles from Dan Kenyon and Matt Bumford, as well as an Andrew Hughes goal.
In division two, Hay St Mary’s inflicted a first league defeat on champions Builth Wells with a 2-1 win under the lights at Forest Road.
A Jack Biggs header and Chris Preece won it for the Saints, after Builth’s Richie Powell had taken the lead.
