AFTER the disappointment of a postponed match the previous week, Aberaeron made a winning return to action as two goals from Matty Davies earned his side a 2-1 home win over Berriew.
Aberaeron dominated the first half, with Matty Davies unlucky to be flagged offside, whilst Sion Clarke brought a fine save from the keeper with his thunderous 30 yard strike.
Liam Jaques, after stinging the keeper’s fingers, was also unlucky with a great left foot shot that grazed the crossbar, and Chris Wilkins, back to his best, also caused the visitors problems all afternoon with his strong runs.
The pressure finally told when Gareth Severs made an immediate impact to deftly head the ball on to Matty Davies, who ran through to slot home.
Davies came very close a few minutes later when he brilliantly controlled the ball, flicked it up and saw his superb bicycle kick force a great save.
Berriew brought on their replacements, however, and they levelled when Steffan Rogers thumped the ball past keeper Barry Edwards, despite appeals from the hosts for offside.
With only a few minutes left it looked like it would be two points dropped by Aberaeron, but then Matty Davies showed his goal scoring prowess and scored the winner with a deft finish.
