LES Davies scored twice as Bala Town notched their third successive win in the JD Welsh Premier on Boxing Day with a comfortable 2-0 win at Prestatyn Town.
Three days earlier, goals in each half by Ian Sheridan and Stuart Jones had seen the Lakesiders beat Cefn Druids 2-1 at Maes Tegid, and the festive revival continued at Bastion Gardens.
With only two minutes played, an inviting cross from Mike Hayes was delivered to an unmarked Ian Sheridan at the back post, but the ball just missed the incoming forward, before Les Davies’ shot went wide.
The Lakesiders deservedly took the lead on 14 minutes when a ball came in from the left to find Les Davies around seven yards out, and he rocketed the ball home into the top corner.
Three minutes later, a cracking ball in from Evans picked out Davies again, and he almost scored a carbon copy of his goal, but the ball whistle narrowly wide.
Bala were in control, and considering the heavy conditions, Colin Caton’s men playing some slick football and finding their men well.
Nathan Burke fired over from the edge of the box, prior to Stuart Jones seeing his effort hacked off the line, and the resulting scramble saw Chris Venables and Davies also test the keeper.
Bala’s chances kept coming right before half-time as Stuart J Jones rattled the bar with his header, a Glenn Rule low daisy-cutter went inches wide, and a spectacular effort from Venables was tipped over by keeper Ryan Roberts, who was almost caught off his line.
At half-time, Will Bell replaced Stuart J Jones, who picked up a slight knock, but Bala’s pressure continued in the second period.
Paul O’Neill cleared a Bala chance off the line, before Jordan Evans drove narrowly over from 25 yards out, with only 10 minutes of the second half played.
It seemed only a matter of time before Bala doubled their lead, and following wave after wave of attacks, they finally got the reward.
Substitute Hyuga Tanner did some fantastic work on the wing to put in a teasing ball into the area which found Davies, and he blasted home from close range to secure the three points.
