DEFENCES dominated as Penrhyncoch shared the spoils in a goalless draw with Bangor City in the JD Cymru North at Cae Baker, to stay ninth in the table.

It was a solid point for Gari Lewis’ side against a good, technical Citizens' side, and they have now reached the 30 points tally which they finished on last season.

Lance Jones sustained a nasty injury towards the end of the game, and the club confirmed that he was transferred from Bronglais Hospital to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where he received 16 stitches.

The Citizens, who are managed by Argentinian World Cup winner Pedro Pasculli, were unable to make the most of their possession, with Emmanuel Agyemang being thwarted on two occasions by the resolute Roosters’ rearguard.

Recent signing Alex Boss also caused plenty of problems down the right, with forward Francesco Serafino’s effort deflected just wide. The resolute Penrhyn defence also hacked James Thomas’ corner off the line, and Boss saw his strike from a tight angle diverted away.

After the break, it was more of the same as Agyemang missed the target from close range, imposing defender Simone Rea saw a bullet header from a corner rattle the crossbar, and Serafino blazed over. Piero Cauterucci was also unable to find the target as both sides had something to show for their efforts.

Third-placed Guilsfield meanwhile hit back from being two goals down to turn the tables in a 12-minute spell that saw them claim a 3-2 win over Llandudno.

Danny Hughes and Dean Seager struck to hand the Seasiders a two-goal half time lead, but Steve Blenkinsop replied in the 72nd minute and Chris Cathrall levelled two minutes later - and the stage was set for Adam Jenkins to hit the winner on 84.

Lowly-placed Llanfair United celebrated their very first win of the season as they took the honours 3-1 at Llangefni Town. Gethin Stephens and a Gethin Jones double put the Powys men three-up before, Matthew Jones nabbed a consolation for the disappointed Anglesey men.

Sam Henry rescued a point for Corwen with an 85th minute equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Buckley Town, after Sam Spridgeon had opened the scoring for the visitors.
