ABERYSTWYTH Town have lost the services of central defender Ryan Wollacott, who has joined Worcestershire side Alvechurch in the BetVictor Southern Premier League Central Division.

The 24 year-old leaves the Seasiders after four seasons at the Jd Cymru Premier club, having played in the Welsh Cup final defeat to the Connah’s Quay in 2018.

After joining Aberystwyth from Stourport Swifts, he became a mainstay in the defence, and after recently scoring the equaliser against Cardiff Met, he helped keep a clean sheet in his last Aber game in the goalless draw at Carmarthen.

Aber themselves extended their unbeaten run with their fourth successive draw, against JD Cymru Premier leaders Connah’s Quay on Friday, to leave them in good heart for their Nathaniel MG Cup quarter-final tie away at Carmarthen on Tuesday.

Matthew Bishop’s side then turn their focus to facing Airbus UK Broughton on Saturday in a crucial bottom-six encounter at the Airfield. The ninth-placed Wingmakers, who notched a 2-1 win at Park Avenue in September, are currently level on points with Aber, after 12 league matches this season.

It promises to be a testing month for Aber, with Bala visiting Park Avenue on Friday, 8 November, followed by a trip to face The New Saints the following week.

Injured captain Marc Williams, who was an unused substitute against Connah’s Quay last Friday, was suspended for the Seasiders’ midweek Cup encounter, having received yellow cards in both the previous rounds, away against Cambrian and Clydach and Cardiff Met.

Forward Luke Boundford is still recovering from injury, having missed the last four matches, although the Seasiders have been boosted by the return to fitness of Geoff Kellaway in recent weeks.

Former striker Porya Rio Ahmadi had left the Club last month to sign for Glossop North End in the Northern Premier South East Division, and he scored a hat-trick on his debut against Spalding.
