PENRHYNDEUDRAETH claimed local bragging rights as they blitzed Welsh Alliance neighbours Barmouth and Dyffryn United 4-0 at their own Wern Mynach ground, with two goals in each half securing the win.

Penrhyn began to impose their authority on 27 minutes, when Meilir Williams steered a glancing header beyond keeper Tyler French, after a right wing cross.

The same player pounced again on 41 minutes, in opportunist fashion, to double the lead, as he exploited hesitation in the home defence over an intended back-pass towards French that fell short.

Home forwards Paul Lewis and Shane Jones offered some hopeful long range attempts in the first half, but they did not seriously trouble Penrhyn’s defence.

The second period followed a similar pattern, with the sizeable home crowd having their hopes dashed further by more Penrhyn strikes, by Ben Jones on 66 minutes and Huw Quaeck on 77 for 4-0.

It was only in the game’s concluding stages that Barmouth looked like extracting some consolation as efforts from Lewis and Jones flashed close to the goal.

Newly-acclaimed champions Conwy Borough were presented with the title trophy after their final fixture, at home to Llanrwst, but the visiting team dampened celebrations with a dramatic 2-1 win.

A spectacular goal by Morgan Owen on 35 minutes, from inside his own half of the pitch ultimately secured the points.

Owen had put the Roosters ahead on 23 minutes, but Conwy hit back with theur solitary reply on 58 from Corrig McGonigle, who increased his highly impressive tally for the campaign to 60 goals.

Nantlle Vale continued their astonishing escape from the division one’s bottom spot, by beating Llandudno Albion 2-1. Rhys Williams netted on 23 minutes and Aaron Griffiths on 71, with Llandudno’s Brian Robbins replying with a goal on 45.

Llanrug won 4-2 at St Asaph City, thanks to Alan Owen netting on 11 and 48 minutes, Luke Phillips on 50 and Jonathan Sadler on 78, against replies from Sion Davies on 29 and Chris Bennett on 88.

Greenfield meanwhile beat Trearddur Bay 3-0, with goals by Sam Jones on 41 and 72 minutes and Danny Henley on 85.
