Dolgellau bounced back from their disappointing midweek defeat at Machynlleth to comfortably beat Abermule 3-0 in the MMP Mid Wales League division two last weekend.

Goals from Charlie Owen, David Edwards, Owain Williams secured their second league win from four matches.

“It was a great response to the Mach game,” said Dolgellau’s first team coach, Owain Williams. “The first half performance was really good, and we basically won the game in that half.

“We were a threat going forward, but the defence was solid. We got three goals and a clean sheet, so job done.”

In midweek, Machynlleth had made it back-to-back wins with a 5-1 midweek win over rivals Dolgellau, to move up to third in the division two table.

Jac Petrie led the way with four goals, including two penalties, to make it six goals in three days, and Sion Jones hit the net for Mach. David Edwards netted the visitors’ reply, whilst Jonathan Sutton was sent off for Dolgellau.

Penparcau ended the unbeaten record of Ceredigion rivals Borth United to notch their third successive win in division two on Wednesday evening.

Mattie Davies penalty was all that separated the sides in this eagerly anticipated derby clash, in front of a sizeable midweek crowd at Min-y-ddol.

Last weekend Penparcau maintained their excellent start to the season with a 6-3 win over Presteigne. Andrew Gittins starred with a hat-trick while Mike Gornall, Mark Gornall and Steff Foulkes also got onto the scoresheet.

Waterloo Rovers also made it four wins from four with a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to Borth United with Jake Mantell and Luke Evans scoring their goals, before Mike Straw got a reply.

In midweek, goals from Jack Weaver, Scott Holley and Andy Gwilt had earned Waterloo a 3-1 win over visitors Abermule, who equalised early in the second half through Jack Jarman.

Newbridge-on-Wye eased to their second win in midweek with an emphatic 16-1 hammering of Knighton, with Ollie Woods and Jake Bufton both scoring four goals for the hosts.

Aeron Powell, Ryan Powell and Kejan Foryszewski all netted doubles, whilst Lyndon Jones and an own goal completed the scoreline, with Adriano Girolami getting a consolation goal.

Last weekend, Newbridge returned from Churchstoke as 3-1 victors, with Aeron Powell, Lyndon Jones and Jake Bufton goals settled the outcome.

Jordan McFadden’s last gasp winner earned Rhayader Town their second league win with a thrilling 5-4 victory at home to Presteigne on Tuesday.

Rhayader led the way with a Tony Davies double and strikes from Aaron Bates and Taylor Wozencraft, but Tom Crichton, with a brace, Lewis Jones and an own goal maintained parity, until McFadden netted a late winner.

Elsewhere Mike Henderson-Smith struck twice as Forden United returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win at home to Churchstoke, with Tom Francis also getting on the scoresheet.

Owain James was the match winner as Dyffryn Banw prevailed 2-1 winners at Forden United on Friday. Llyr Thomas opened the scoring, before 16 year old James doubled the lead, and Henry O’Donnell netted a late reply.
