DOLGELLAU hit back from being a goal down to beat Aberystwyth University 2-1 in the ER Jenkins Mid Wales League Division Two Cup at Vicarage Fields.

The students had taken the lead early on when Jamie Stuart volleyed home, but second half goals from David Edwards and Charlie Owen sealed it for the visitors.

Newbridge also booked their place as goals by Ryan Powell, Jake Bufton and an Aeron Powell penalty secured a 3-2 win over Dyffryn Banw, who had netted their goals through Alwyn Jones and Twm Foulkes, from the penalty spot.

In MMP Mid Wales League action, Tywyn/Bryncrug were 4-2 winners away against Llansantffraid Village, courtesy of goals from Nick Williams, Dave Jenkins, Aston Heath and James Morgan.

Tom Allen-Davies provided two assists for the visitors, who held the upper hand in the midfield battle, with Dave Jenkins and Ben Williams also creating goals.

The hosts benefited from own goals by Tywyn’s Ryan Goddard and Jack Wilkes.

Llanidloes Town meanwhile extended their lead at the top of division one to 10 points with an emphatic 6-1 win over Montgomery, who replied through Tom Evans. Daf Carruthers and Connor Bird, with a brace, put the Daffs in control at the break, before a penalty from Bird, to complete his hat-trick, Dewi Allen and a Joshua Evans free kick sealed their victory.

The scheduled Mid Wales League division one matches between Builth Wells and Aberaeron, Caersws and Four Crosses, and Llandrindod Wells and Kerry were all called off because of the wet weather, as was the division two match between Rhayader Town and Machynlleth.

Meanwhile only two of the five matches planned by the Gwynedd League went ahead as the saturated pitches once again became a determining factor.

Llangoed enjoyed themselves as they piled up a 10-0 tally against the still pointless bottom club Llanerchymedd, who have now gone nine matches for no returns, with 62 goals already conceded.

Mid-table Llangoed were four goals clear at half-time, and ended up with a crammed score-sheet - showing eight different scorers. Wayne Thomas opened their account on 20 minutes, and he then followed up with a penalty conversion on 23. Jay Finter netted the next goal on the half-hour and Sam Gregson did likewise just ahead of the interval.

Matty Owen netted after 55 minutes, Guy Hughes on 68, Patrick Mee on 78, Llion Roberts on 82, and from a penalty and 83, and Joseph Doohan made it double figures on 85.

Waunfawr beat Ogwen Tigers 5-2, thanks to Rhodri Owen finding the visitors’ target on 14 minutes, Adam Lloyd on 50, Meurig Parry on 53, Owen again on 73 and Dylan Hughes on 75.Ogwen had both their goals from Leon Owen, on 22 and 89.

Talysarn Celts versus Caergybi was postponed, along with the Bob Owen Memorial Shield first round ties between Bethesda Athletic and Trearddur Bay Bulls, and Bontnewydd versus Glantraeth.
