DOLGELLAU Reserves have officially pulled out of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League, with club secretary Stephen Parry blaming a lack of commitment from the players.

It reduces the membership of division one to 10 clubs, with division two being made up of just six clubs this season.

“It is with sadness that Dolgellau Reserves will resign from the Cambrian Tyres League forthwith,” said Club secretary Stephen Parry in a statement.

“Having taken into account recent injuries, it became evident that due to a lack of commitment - whether it be work, travelling or disinterest - the club are unable to sustain two senior teams.

“The decision has not been taken lightly, and we apologise sincerely to those who will feel let down by this decision. Many apologies for this inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause.”

Dolgellau Reserves were promoted into the Cambrian Tyres division one this summer, after being runners-up to Talybont in division two last season, and won their first two games against Llanilar and Machynlleth Reserves.

Dolgellau’s first team, who were crowned champions of the Cambrian Tyres division one in 2016, will continue to play in the Spar Mid Wales League division two this season.
