DOMINIC Thomas scored another brace for Dolgellau as they maintained winning ways in the Spar Mid Wales League division two with a 2-1 home win over Llansantffraid Village.

A late winner from Thomas maintained their 100 per cent home record, and it keeps them within three points of new leaders Kerry, and with a game in hand.

Early chances had seen Jasper Jones head a corner over, and David Edwards fire wide, as well as seeing a shot cleared off the goal line.

Then, on 15 minutes, Darryl Johns squared from the right into the path of Thomas, who controlled and slotted home into the far corner from inside the box.

At the other end, Joe Mackinson created a half-chance for Nathan Prodger, but Darren Andrews saved.

On the half-hour, however, it was all square, as Toby Thomas crossed low to the edge of the box for Tom Gale, who fired home through a crowd of players.

Thomas then set up Tom Carr, who blasted over, and Prodger fired straight at Andrews - and as time ran out, an Edwards corner resulted in a Thomas overhead kick, with keeper Jones saving.

In the second half, Edwards hit the wall with a free kick and Darryl Johns had his shot blocked, whilst Thomas and Edwards both had efforts saved by Jones.

At the other end, Prodger forced a save, but with just three minutes to go Dolgellau secured the three points.

Tom Evans, from the right back position played the ball to the edge of the box and Thomas turned his marker expertly to fire a low shot into the far corner of the net for a late winner.

Unbeaten Borth United are joint top of division two - with two games in hand on the leaders - after they hit back from 3-1 down to register a 4-3 home triumph against Abermule.

The hosts took an early lead when Ben Jones swept the ball over the keeper, but almost immediately Dave Anthony levelled matters with a cool finish.

The dangerous Anthony scored again to put Abermule ahead at the interval, and after the break they extended their lead when Tommy Jones scored with a header, after Anthony’s shot hit the bar.

Following some astute substitutions by Borth manager Ian Lewis, Ryan Davies’ cross was pounced on by Liam Lewis to slot home, and then Davies again created an opening for Ben Jones to squeeze home their equaliser.

Borth still weren’t finished, and Ryan Davies outsmarted the Abermule defence to fire home the winning goal.

Kerry meanwhile moved top of the table as a brace from Luke Mumford, with a free kick and a penalty, earned a 2-1 win at Aberystwyth University.

Shaun Roberts volleyed in his fifth goal in two games to boost the students’ hopes, but they finished empty-handed, despite Tristan Harris and Owen Whitmore both being denied by smart saves.

Shaun Roberts had scored all four goals as the University picked up their first point in a lively 4-4 midweek draw at Presteigne, with Matt Strangwood scoring twice and Tom Crichton and Ashley Griffiths once for the home side.

Last weekend Presteigne won 5-2 at Four Crosses, with goals from Ioan Hughes, with a brace, Kieran Lusher, Tom Crichton and Tim Office, whilst Builth Wells were held to a 4-4 draw against Dyffryn Banw.
