CLEDAN Davies and Rhun Garner both netted hat-tricks as Tregaron Turfs moved eight points clear at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one with an emphatic 11-1 win over visitors Aberdyfi last weekend.

First half goals by Cledan Davies, Mel Davies and two goals from Rhun Garner had put the leaders 4-0 up at the interval.

Garner’s second goal was an early contender for goal of the season, powering home his header from 12 yards after a superb cross by Davies.

The floodgates opened in the second half, with Garner and Davies completing their hat-tricks, with two goals each from youngsters Daniel Owen and Rhodri Jones sealing an emphatic win. Ben Price netted a late consolation for the visitors, who had travelled with a bare 11 players.

Talybont marched into the second round of the League Cup with a 3-1 win over Penrhyncoch Reserves, with Osian Thomas, Mike Fitzpatrick and Clint Middleton netting. Owen Keyworth got the reply.

Meanwhile Bont are through to the second round of the Newman Memorial Trophy after they notched a 4-2 win away at Borth United Reserves, with Dean Colman scoring a brace, along with singles from Daniel Owen and Garin Evans. Zak Douglas scored twice for Borth Reserves.

Chris Carton scored twice as Padarn United eased past their second team with a 5-0 win, with Richard Williams and Jason Davies also scoring, whilst Dolgellau Reserves conceded their scheduled tie against Aberystwyth University Reserves.

Llanilar were unable to make the most of home advantage as they bowed out of the Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies with a 3-1 defeat against Costcutter Ceredigion League division one outfit Crannog, whose pitch was deemed to be unfit.

This weekend will see the Emrys Morgan Cup take centre stage, with Borth Reserves travelling to face Aberaeron Reserves, Llanilar go to Talgarth and Corris United travel to St Harmon, whilst Bont host Kerry Reserves, Dolgellau Reserves host Cardigan, Padarn host Welshpool Reserves, Penparcau Reserves host Llandrindod Reserves, Talybont host Brecon Corries and Tregaron host Llanymynech.
