TALYBONT and Felinfach played out a very tough and entertaining semi final for the Dai Dynamo Cup, at Cae Baker Penrhyncoch on Wednesday evening.

On paper it was the South Cardiganshire league side who were favourites, however Talybont put in a battling team performance and were more than a match to Felinfach for the 90 minutes.

The game started with Felinfach keeping possession and moving the ball well on a quick playing surface.

Talybont settled and started to play football in the Felinfach half.

A good through ball by Talybont striker James Graham set the dangerous Ioan Joseph on his way, showing Talybont's intent to attack whenever possible.

It was Felinfach who broke the deadlock after 21 minutes following good work down the left, despite some courageous defending by Talybont, Josh Davies found the back of the net.

Talybont reacted positively, with Tom Benjamin and James Graham having good chances in the box, however it was a thunderbolt of a strike from Aled Parry-Evans from outside the box that levelled the score at 1-1 on the half hour mark.

The remainder of the first half was end to end, with Felinfach dangerous down both flanks.

It was one of these attacks that made it 2-1 to Felinfach after 44 minutes, Rhys Williams scoring after a scramble in the box.

The turning point of the game came just before the second goal, when Talybont goalkeeper Mat Toy suffered a nasty injury to his back following a 50/50 tackle with Felinfach's Dan James.

Talybont were forced to substitute their goalkeeper during half time, resulting in several changes in key positions.

It was Dylan Benjamin who went in goal, having been strong and effective in midfield for Talybont during the first half, it was inevitable that his presence would be missed in the outfield.

Talybont introduced two 17-year-old's from the bench in Tyler Murray and Owen Jac Roberts.

Both of the youngsters gave solid efforts during a difficult second half, as well as tireless performances from Kyle Thomson and Aled Parry-Evans in midfield for Talybont.

Felinfach continued to play neat football, with Josh Davies orchestrating things in the midfield.

As Talybont pressed hard for an equaliser, Felinfach struck twice through the hard working Steffan Williams, to extend their lead to 4-1 at full time.

In what was a very entertaining game, in front of a crowd of nearly 230 on a wet Wednesday evening. A great advert for Tier 5 football in Ceredigion. Felinfach will now play the winner of Newcastle Emlyn v St Dogmaels in the final.

A minute of silence was held before the game in memory of Paul Wyn Jones from Llanilar FC, a good friend to numerous people in attendance on the night.
