Llanidloes Town went out of the Central Wales Senior Challenge Cup after suffering penalty heartbreak against Llanrhaeadr in an entertaining semi-final clash at Caersws.

After the tie had finished 3-3 following extra time, the Daffs succumbed in the spot kick decider as their Huws Gray Alliance rivals progressed to the final, where they will now meet Berriew.

The MMP Mid Wales League division one title chasers had taken a two goal lead through a fine finish from Josh Hartrick and Connor Bird’s penalty.

Llanrhaeadr hit back to level through Khyam Wyton and Iwan Matthews, before the Daffs restored their lead when Matthew Savage’s corner was deflected into the net.

However, Llan levelled again through Matthews to take the tie into extra time and, with no more goals, it was settled 4-3 on penalties in favour of the villagers.

Meanwhile Berriew booked their place in another cup final with a 4-2 extra-time win over Carno in the semi-final the MP Foulkes Montgomeryshire Cup in Caersws on Wednesday.
