ABERYSTWYTH Town Ladies made progress into the second round of the FAW Women’s Cup with a fantastic 5-0 win over Merthyr at Park Avenue.

Tania Wylde scored twice for the Seasiders, with Lisa Cowdy, Kelly Thomas and Naomi Evans also on the scoresheet to set up a second round tie at Llandundo.

Aber are currently top of the South Wales Women’s League, with four wins from five matches so far. Goals by Caroline Cooper and Kelly Thomas had secured a 2-0 win over Willows Ladies, and a first half goal from Kelly Thomas had earned a battling 1-0 win away against Dafen Ladies.

Aberystwyth Town Ladies will be looking to maintain their winning momentum when they travel to take on Penybont this Sunday (ko 2.30pm).
