AFTER a disappointing start to the season in the MMP Mid Wales Division One, Bow Street registered their first league win of the season with a comprehensive 5-0 home success against Churchstoke.
Boosted by a last-gasp win at Llandrindod Wells in the FAW Trophy, the Magpies wasted no time in setting about their opponents to take an early two goal lead.
New signing Josh Krowl put over an exquisite cross from the left which was superbly headed home by Ben Jones, and then, from a corner, Callum Ferreira stroked the ball home for a 2-0 advantage.
Despite relentless pressure and the odd breakaway from Churchstoke, there was no addition to the score before the break.
Steff Richards, however, scored early in the second half with a right-footed wonder shot, and further Bow Street goals were added by the evergreen Dean Evans, and the young substitute, Shaun Jones.
Aberaeron maintained winning form as they registered a second successive league win on the road when they triumphed 3-1 at Welshpool Town on Friday evening.
Goals by Gareth Severs, Elwyn Edwards and Ifan Burrell lifted the Ceredigion men up to seventh place in the table, whilst at the other end Neil Evans between the sticks made some excellent saves, and he was only beaten once by Will Thomas.
Llanidloes Town produced a five-star display to keep the pressure on the division one leaders with a 5-1 beating of Llansantffraid Village at Victoria Avenue.
Llion Jenkins, Dewi Allen and Connor Bird all found the net in the first half and, despite a reply by Nathan Prodger soon after the break, the Daffs restored their three goal lead through Gregg Brown, before Peter Rees completed the scoring.
Rivals Caersws dominated as Rhydian Davies and Phil Jones both scored twice in an emphatic 10-2 win at 10-man Kerry.
There were further goals by Tom Powys Richards, Aled Jones, Mark Edmondson, Elliot Jones, Craig Harris and Lance Jones as the Bluebirds moved to within two points of frontrunners Radnor Valley.
Kerry scored first half replies through Mark Hughes and Matt Mumford, but their challenge ended after Mumford was sent off for a second yellow on 40 minutes.
Radnor Valley’s 100 per cent league record ended with a 6-2 defeat at Berriew, where Richard Davies led the way with a hat-trick, along with a brace from Charlie Humphreys and single by Joe Haycock.
Valley, who were three goals down after half an hour, replied with a goal in each half from Gareth Davies and Geraint Lloyd, but Berriew thoroughly deserved to get their fifth league win of the season.
After going down to 10 men after only half an hour, when Nathan Edgington was shown a straight red card, Llanfair dug in deep to beat Builth Wells 4-1.
Josh Astley netted an early goal, and early in the second half Llanfair were awarded a penalty for handball which Karl Seliaerts dispatched to make it 2-0.
Sam Williams made it 2-1 with a close range effort, but Astley finished well from 20 yards, and in the dying minutes Toby Evans sealed the victory from close range.
Carno hit back from being a goal down to win 5-1 at Tywyn/Bryncrug, with Richie Evans and Andy Evans scoring twice, along with a goal from Callum Page. Tom Allen Davies netted for the home team.
