THE Football Association of Wales has suspended domestic football at all levels in Wales with immediate effect until 4 April, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Consequently, the Cymru Premier, Cymru North and Cymru South, and the Welsh Premier Women’s League will be suspended in accordance with the guidelines. The MMP Mid Wales League, the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League, the Costcutter Ceredigion League and the Ceredigion Ladies League have also cancelled their fixtures.It follows the FAW decision to cancel the international match between Wales and Austria on 27 March at Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium.The FAW also confirmed the International Challenge Match between Wales ’C’ and England ’C’ scheduled for 24 March is postponed.An FAW statement confirmed: “The intention at this time will be to resume the football schedule, depending on the medical advice and conditions from the relevant authorities at that time.“The FAW is fully aware of the impact this will have on the domestic game, but the health and safety of all supporters players, volunteers and stakeholders are clearly of paramount importance.“The FAW will continue to closely monitor this situation on a day-by-day basis and will continue to provide updates when appropriate.”A statement from the Central Wales FA, having previously stated its intention to play games whilst monitoring ongoing developments, said: “The Football Association of Wales has taken the decision to suspend domestic football at all levels in Wales with immediate effect.“That is the position that we must now adopt. Therefore all domestic football in the Central Wales FA is now suspended until 4 April.”MMP Mid Wales League leaders Llanidloes Town backed the decision, by stating: “The club fully back the suspension of all football during the virus outbreak.“We wait to see how the situation is at the start of April, but will back whatever decisions are made. The health and well-being of the general public is a far greater concern than football matches.”Following the late cancellation of the Six Nations international match between Wales and Scotland in Cardiff, the Welsh Rugby Union confirmed that all domestic rugby activity will now be suspended until 30 March.A statement read: “The WRU, having considered medical advice, has taken the precautionary measure of suspending all forms of rugby, including training and rugby-releated courses, from 6pm Saturday, 6 March, up to and including 30 March.“The WRU has taken this decision in the interests of players, supporters, volunteers, referees, stakeholders and Welsh communities in general. The WRU continues to assess this fast-moving situation, and will provide further updates in due course.”Tregaron’s Division Three West A fixture away at Llanybydder did go ahead on Friday evening, with the visitors winning the match 18-10, but all future league and cup matches are now cancelled until further notice.
