FOUR clubs have applied to step up into the Spar Mid Wales League division two this summer, including current Aberystwyth and District League division one leaders Dolgellau.
On the final day for applications, league secretary Phil Woosnam confirmed that Brecon Town, Forden United and Llansantffraid Village had also applied for promotion in 2016.
“All grounds will be inspected during the next month, and applicants are aware that if they finish in either of the top two positions in division one of their own leagues, then they are eligible by right for promotion,” he said.
“This applies to Dolgellau, in the Cambrian Tyres League and Brecon in the Mid Wales League (South), but all will be eligible if there are vacancies in division two at the end of the season.
“Much will depend on the higher leagues as usual as far as promotion and relegation is concerned, and also within the Mid Wales League itself, whereby any of the bottom four clubs can be relegated as per regulations.”
Dolgellau are former members of the Spar Mid Wales League division one, prior to resigning in 2014, while Llansantffraid quit the league in summer 2015.Read the full report in this week's Cambrian News
