BONT resumed their title push as they extended their lead at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one to eight points with a 4-0 win over second-placed Talybont.
The visitors came quickest out of the blocks, forcing a great low stop from goalkeeper Trevor Jenkins, but then Dion Davies showed great composure at the other end to give the home side the lead.
Dewi Sion Evans missed a golden chance to double the lead, but his penalty was tipped around the post by the goalkeeper.
That miss was soon forgotten, however, as Fergus Morris poked home from the resulting corner, after a mix-up in defence.
Chasing the game in the second half, Talybont left themselves more exposed as a fantastic through ball from Andrew Gilbert gave Evans the chance to atone for his miss in the first half, and he didn’t need any second opportunity this time around.
There was still time for Davies to chip the keeper for his well earned second goal of the game, as Bont continued their league form where they had left off in 2016.
Padarn United meanwhile consolidated their top four position in division one with a 6-1 win over Borth United Reserves.
Jason Davies led the way with a hat-trick for the hosts, with Paul James, Chris Foster and Ian Lee also finding the net, whilst Jo Green scored the consolation for Borth.
In Cambrian Tyres League Cup action, Bow Street Reserves marched on with a 3-1 win over Llanilar, courtesy of a Nick Smith penalty, a header from Gethin ap Dafydd and a fine effort from Shaun Jones. Jack Lawton scored for the visitors.
Llanilar Reserves celebrated a 5-1 win over Padarn Reserves in the second round of the Second Division Trophy, with a brace from Simon Watson Smith and singles by Tomos Wyn Davies, Sion Gittins and Ioan Jones. James Graham got a reply.
In first round action, Dolgellau Reserves beat Talybont Reserves 2-1 at the Marian, courtesy of a Lee Riches free kick in the opening half and George Jackson-Townshend after the half-time break. A Chris Jones goal had kept Talybont in touch.
