ST DOGMAELS played some splendid football, despite the gale force winds, to register a convincing 4-0 win over Felinfach in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one.
The Saints, who made several changes from the team that lost to Llandysul, went ahead early on when ex-Aberporth striker John Midgley was on target.
Midgley added a second just before half time, but the visitors enjoyed a number of decent chances and former Cardigan keeper Carl Woodhouse was forced to make one superb save.
Skipper and central defender Jason Williams, who was outstanding throughout, made it 3-0 on the hour, and Midgley completed his hat-trick with a similar goal to his first two, when he cut inside from the left wing and fired in to make it 4-0.
Felinfach, to their credit, had pushed hard, and were very dangerous on the counter attack, but they were just lacking that bit of composure in front of goal.
A first half hat-trick from Newcastle Emlyn defender Huw ‘Jonah’ Jones paved the way to an easy 10-1 win for the Reds at the expense of Cilgerran Rovers.
This game was switched to the former Saron FC pitch, due to the Parc Emlyn strip being too wet, but Rovers struggled on the very narrow surface, and were soon behind when Jones netted.
Jones added a couple more goals before the break to complete his treble, and there was only going to be one winner, with the Reds well in control.
In-form wide man Jake Kelly added a brace of goals after the interval, as did Dion Phillips, and Jones took full advantage of a tiring Rovers team to add two more to his tally to complete a memorable afternoon for him.
Former Pencader raider Ashley Summers completed the rout late on, before Tommy Furbear grabbed a consolation effort.Read the full report in this week's South edition
