BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs have confirmed that Geraint Owen and Mel Roberts will be the co-managers of the first team next season.
Both coaches are familiar faces at the club, and they have been part of the training team at Cae Clyd with former manager Ceri Roberts. Having taken the Quarrymen from almost bottom of Welsh Alliance Division Two four years ago, Roberts leaves a much rejuvenated side, now looking forward to competing in Tier Three.
Two seasons ago, the Amateurs achieved second place in the Welsh Alliance division two, ending up just two points behind champions Glan Conwy, and securing promotion to division one.
At the completion of the curtailed 2019-20 campaign, they were a solid 12th in division one, and having met the necessary criteria to compete at Tier Three of the restructured Welsh Pyramid, they will compete in the North West division next season.
The new northern Welsh Tier Three Leagues are as follows: North East: Berriew; Bow Street; Caersws; Carno; Cefn Albion; Chirk AAA; Corwen; Four Crosses; Kerry; Llanfair United; Machynlleth; Montgomery Town; Penparcau; Penycae; Rhos Aelwyd; Welshpool Town.
North West: Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs; Brickfield Rangers; Brymbo; Porthmadog; Denbigh Town; Dyffryn Nantlle Vale; Llandudno Albion; Llanrwst United; Llanuwchllyn; Llay Welfare; Mold Alexandra; Rhostyllen; Rhydymwyn; Saltney Town; St Asaph City and Felinheli.
BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs have countered the loss of prolific Meilir Williams by signing striker Cai Henshaw from Penrhyndeudraeth.
Henshaw, who played for Blaenau in 2016-17, went on to have spells at Penrhyndeudraeth and Porthmadog, where he played mainly for their reserve side, which won the 2018-19 Welsh Alliance Reserve League double - scoring over 20 goals that season.
Henshaw signed for Welsh Alliance division one club Nantlle Vale in summer 2019, but returned to Penrhyndeudraeth in January 2020.
Meanwhile veteran midfielder Iwan Thomas has also returned to Cae Clyd, after 14 years at Penrhyndeudraeth.
